SEAT (SHOULDER STRAP) WILL NOT RETRACT FORWARD WHEN DOOR IS OPENED, DOES NOT ALWAY RETRACT BACK, LAP BELT HAS BROKEN TWICE, REPLACE ONCE, LAP BELT SOMETIMES GET STUCK, BUZZER GOES OFF WHEN THE BACK DOORS OPENS WHICH IS NOT SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN.
THE FUEL CUTOFF SWITCH ACTIVATED WHILE TRAVELING OVER BUMPS, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. DEALER SAID THAT CUT OFF SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

I HAD THE REAR SUSPENSION INSPECTED BY TWO DIFFERENT GARAGES DUE TO MY CAR RIDING ROUGH. BOTH GARAGES TOLD ME THAT BOTH REAR SPRINGS ARE BROKEN WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD ESCORTS. BOTH GARAGES TOLD ME THAT THEY REPLACING THE REAR SPRINGS ALL THE TIME ON THIS MODEL. I HAVE CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THIS DEFECT BUT HAVE FOUND NOTHING. IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON OCCURRENCE I FEEL FORD SHOULD REPLACE THE SPRINGS AND THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY. *AK
THE CONSUMERS MOTORIZED SHOULDER BELT HAS COME OFF TRACK SO OFTEN THE HE HAS PULLED THE FUSE SO THEY WOULD RETRACT ANYMORE UNTIL THEY WERE FIXED. NLM

THE LOCK PLATE OF THE DRIVER SIDE INBOARD SEAT TRACK ADJUSTERS WERE MANUFACTURED WITH AN UNAUTHORIZED MODIFICATION TO THE FABRICATION PROCESS WHICH CAUSES THE SEAT NOT TO FULLY ENGAGE IN CERTAIN SEATING POSITIONS NEAR THE MID-POINT OF THE SEAT TRACK TRAVEL.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THE SEAT CAN MOVE, WHICH WOULD RESULT IN REDUCED OCCUPANT PROTECTION.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE INBOARD SEAT TRACK.
