I first noticed the sound of water running in the dash each time I started the car. At that time I don’t recall an engine light on. It would sound like bubbles and water running for 10 seconds or so and then it would go away. That lasted a while before I was driving home from work and on two consecutive mornings my car lost acceleration power. This is dangerous in that I have to cross traffic on a busy road and had I tried to go quickly between cars I definitely couldn’t have moved to get out of the way. Each time this happened I pulled over and restarted the car and was able to get home. While waiting for my appointment with ford my car overheated and I got an engine overheat prompt. This was in the middle of summer and I had my two kids in the car. I drove to an auto zone and my dad met me to help add more coolant. At first glance it looked low, but once he opened the cap it bubbled up to appropriate levels. So overall we didn’t add too much coolant. I took it into ford and they told me I had an engine coolant leak into the main block and I had to replace my entire engine out of pocket. My car was at ford for 30 days waiting for replacement and the installation.

I had my 2018 Ford Edge in Gerald Jones Ford Lincoln dealership services department at Augusta, GA on [XXX] (soonest appointment schedule available) due to check engine light turning on that I detected on [XXX] According to their diagnosis, my vehicle is now in need of total engine rebuild/replace. On [XXX], 12 days prior to the check engine light turning on, my vehicle was at the dealership for its regular maintenance (oil change, tire pressure, top off fluid, etc.) that also included a multi-point inspection. There were no engine issues detected on the vehicle 12 days prior. All of a sudden, 12 days later, the vehicle's engine light turned on and now in need of serious repair. This vehicle has less than 40k mileage. I did some research and based on submitted complaints online from other vehicle owners, I became aware that there are known issues to the engine design causing misfires and coolant leaking into the combustion chamber/engine that is specific to my vehicle's make and model. Ford has not issued a recall but many have reported similar if not exact problems I am experiencing. I reached out to the dealership's General Manager on [XXX] regarding my concerns. I also called his number on [XXX] and left a voicemail message. It has been 3 business days and I have not received any email response or callback from the General Manager. At the moment, I have the vehicle in my possession while I am trying to deal with the current situation. fINFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The car trunk will not latch right and also has problems with latch closing and won't stop even if something is under it. I've had the trunk hit me in the head twice and continued to close and also broke items in the car.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that after a cold start, the coolant temperature too high warning message appeared on the instrument panel while the vehicle was idle. The contact restarted the vehicle but the service message returned. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the mechanic discovered that coolant had leaked into the cylinder head, causing the engine block to crack, resulting in engine failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 64,000.

I received a recall letter in the mail July of 2022, I called several Ford dealerships and they informed me that they had not received the parts for this recall as of yet and I would just have to wait to receive the second letter in the mail. I have waited and waited and waited. This past weekend September 10, 2022, I was driving with my oldest and youngest children in the car when my vehicle went from drive to reverse. I was able to get the vehicle back in drive and continue to drive to our friends house. As i placed the car in park it registered in reverse I could not let go of the brake or I would start moving in reverse this scared me because my vehicle was not registering in park even though it was in park. My vehicle was turned off and still continued to register in reverse then drive then sport mode then in reverse again. I was able to get the vehicle in neutral after some time, but this frightened myself and my children. I called the Ford dealerships and Ford corporate for assistance in the matter and none were helpful as the parts will not be released until December of 2022. I am a single parent, who relies on my vehicle not only to transport myself and my children, but to transport us safely there. I have just gone into remission from having cancer and rely on my vehicle to go to important appointments and all the stress of this has a very real possibility of causing the cancer to come back. Ford has failed me in both categories.
Car rolled out of drivewayacross road and hit tree in neighbors yard which kept it from hitting house. 10,000 in damages to rear of car. While car being repaired heard about recall. Body shop told us about it. Took @ 3 months to get car repaired. No one in car at time of rollaway

Opened Sep 3, 2026 · No close date supplied
Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Engine And Engine Cooling
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) received a petition on August 5, 2026, requesting a defect investigation into the 2.0 Liter EcoBoost engine on model year 2015-2018 Ford Edge vehicles. The petition alleges that engine coolant intrusion results in a significant loss of engine power, accompanied by an "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" warning message. The petition further alleges that after the vehicle has sat and cooled down, the engine runs roughly and generates a check engine light for a cylinder misfire. This defect petition is being opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI number 11754989.
