YOU CAN BARELY FOLLOW THE CENTER LINE. AFTER 100 YEARS IN BUSINESS, YOU WOULD THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHEN PURCHASING A NEW VEHICLE. I THINK THE LOW BEAM LIGHTING SHOULD BE REPLACED WHAT A BRIGHTER LED LIGHTING. I'M CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY AND MY FAMILY SAFETY. I CAN NOT SEE HOW HIS WAS OVERLOOKED BY THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF MAKING SURE A CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE IN ALL CONDITIONS.

I ALSO LOOKED UP IF OTHER OWNERS AND DRIVERS ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THEIR HEAD LIGHTS. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE EITHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE ASKED MY DEAL WHAT IT WOULD COST TO HAVE BRIGHTER BULBS PUT IN. THEY TOLD ME THAT FORD DOESN'T HAVE BRIGHTER BULBS. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS GOING TO COST ME $399.00 TO HAVE THEM BUY OUTSIDE OF FORD AND HAVE THEM PUT THEM IN FOR ME . PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AS IT SEEMS TO BE A ISSUE FOR A FEW YEARS. THANK YOU I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU. [XXX] CELLPHONE NUMBER [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

THE LOW BEAM HALOGEN HEADLAMPS ARE INADEQUATE. CAN'T SEE A THING AT NIGHT, IF IT'S RAINING YOU MAY AS WELL PARK THE VEHICLE. THE LIGHTS MAY BE BRIGHT TO LOOK AT THE CAR, BUT THEY DO NOTHING TO LIGHT UP THE ROADWAY. IF YOU DRIVE UNDER A STREET LAMP, THE HEADLAMP IS NO LONGER VISIBLE ON THE ROAD. THIS IS THE FIRST CAR I'VE OWNED THAT THE HEAD LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD MORE THAN A STREET LIGHT. I SEE THEY GET A POOR RATING FROM THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY

THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE SO WEAK THAT WHEN THE ROAD IS WET AT NIGHT OR WHEN DRIVING NEAR AMBIENT LIGHTING SUCH AS STREET LIGHTS YOU CAN'T SEE ANY MARKINGS ON THE ROAD SUCH AS THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD. THERE IS ALSO EXHAUST FUMES COMING INTO THE CAR WHEN DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS UP OR SLIGHTLY ROLLED DOWN AND WHEN THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM IS IN RECIRCULATING MODE. THESE FUMES MAKE ME DIZZY AND CAUSE ME TO HAVE BLURRY VISION. I ALMOST COMPLETELY BLACKED OUT TWICE ALREADY AND I OWNED THIS CAR FOR THREE WEEKS. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT FORD EDGE HAD THESE PROBLEMS AND THE SALESMAN OF COURSE NEVER MENTIONED THEM. THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE EXHAUST HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY UNDER 20 MPH AND AT HIGHER SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE RECIRCULATING MODE IS ON WITH OR WITHOUT THE AIR CONDITIONING TURNED ON. I HAVE DRIVEN WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROL TOTALLY OFF AND STILL THE FUMES COME INSIDE THE CAR. IT'S AS IF THE BODY OF THE CAR IS CREATING A VACUUM THAT PULLS THE EXHAUST BACK INTO THE CAR BECAUSE I CAN HAVE TO CLIMATE SYSTEM OFF AND THE WINDOWS OPEN AND EXHAUST GETS SUCKED IN. THIS CAR IS S $36,000 DEATH TRAP AND I PAID THE FULL PRICE SO I'M SCREWED.

DP26008 · Loss Of Motive Power

Opened Sep 3, 2026 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Engine And Engine Cooling

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) received a petition on August 5, 2026, requesting a defect investigation into the 2.0 Liter EcoBoost engine on model year 2015-2018 Ford Edge vehicles. The petition alleges that engine coolant intrusion results in a significant loss of engine power, accompanied by an "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" warning message.  The petition further alleges that after the vehicle has sat and cooled down, the engine runs roughly and generates a check engine light for a cylinder misfire. This defect petition is being opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI number 11754989.
