2018 Ford Edge

*Initial engine startup rough idling and also after filling gas tank up, periodic stalling, Check Engine light come on, P302 Code misfire of cylinder #2, Disappearing coolant with no observable leaks, white smoke upon startups. I am bringing the car in tomorrow to Ford for an engine inspection/analysis. *The engine stalled on the Hwy. The vehicle will be inspected tomorrow to confirm long block flawed design. *rough idling and check engine light has progressively become more frequent over a prior of the last 2 years. Reported to service advisor on multiple occasions without resolution.

The check engine light came on while the vehicle was being driven during a vacation. This happened after the vehicle had a maintenance-required tune-up performed by the dealership on May 19, 2026. The vehicle was not having performance issues at the time, but I did not want to drive home with the check engine light on. The very next business day, I took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. The dealership advised me that the vehicle had coolant intrusion involving cylinder 4 and that the engine would need to be replaced. Because this was a serious diagnosis, I then took the vehicle to another reputable automotive repair shop for a second opinion. That shop also advised that the engine needed to be replaced due to the coolant intrusion issue. This creates a safety concern because coolant intrusion can lead to misfires, engine damage, overheating, loss of power, stalling, or engine failure while the vehicle is being driven. I was more than 250 miles from home and had to avoid driving the vehicle because of the risk of further engine damage or possible failure on the road. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue was inspected by the dealership and by an independent automotive repair shop. No crash, fire, injury, or death occurred. The check engine light came on while driving during a vacation. No other warning message is known at this time.

The part behind the dashboard touchscreen for the radio went bad, they call it the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module). It allows us to see the screen when in reverse among other things. They are incredibly common to go bad on certain model years of ford vehicles. Very expensive to fix as the module is programmed per VIN. The screen does not work, just stays black the entire time.

My Ford Edge will lock us out while it is running with the key fob in the car, in the center console. It will lock you out if you are standing outside the car after you unlock the doors, with the keys in your hand. It will continue to lock itself back after you unlock it, before you even get a door open. It has done this numerous times. I have called and complained about it but received no help. I even made a complaint through Ford and the dealership where we are buying the Edge from. They were no help at all, not even with an extra key fob. We have an autistic child, and what is going to happen when I step out of the car to get him out and my doors lock with him in the car? We need answers and help with this problem! In addition, the contact stated that the buttons on the infotainment system were lagging and were sometimes inoperable while pressed. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure was related to an unrepaired recall. The dealer declined to inspect the vehicle at the time. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact later received a call from the dealer to schedule the recall repair for June 2026, when the parts were scheduled to be available. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive with the forward and rearview images displayed on the infotainment system screen simultaneously, and the contact could not wait until June 2026. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the failure was not related to the unrepaired recall. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The contact stated that because of the failure, the key fob occasionally failed to unlock the doors. The contact was frustrated and fearful of driving the vehicle, and feared being locked out of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the key fob battery needed to be replaced. The key fob battery was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where the contact was informed that the key fob battery needed to be replaced. The key fob battery was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Now have had my battery replaced twice for some weird reason my car keeps dying when nothing appears to to have been left on inside the vehicle. My Ford edge titanium 2018 has the settings that shit down the wngine with a 30 second shut down and same with anything left in it shuts it off. So why is my car constantly dying with a new battery is my vehicle pat if the 80 something Ford edges that has connection issues with the alternator etc. please help with already two recalls that my vehicle has but can’t be replaced due to parts not ready for repairs by ford. Help!!!
