2014 Fiat 500L

I own a 2014 Fiat 500L with 60,000 miles. The vehicle is actively suffering from the dangerous safety defect described in Recall T19/17V192000 (engine limits itself to idle speed and zero acceleration from a stop, even when the gas pedal is fully pressed). The local dealer and Fiat corporate refuse to address it because they claim a software update was performed historically. The initial remedy has completely failed, the vehicle is unsafe to drive, and the manufacturer is refusing to fix a recurring safety defect." This is the EXACT known problem in only this year and model, the 2014 fiat 500. It is a known software issue and it needs to be addressed. It is causing me to get stuck at lights and stopping traffic at intersections. Any supposed fix was done over 10 years ago when the car was fine..it was done then only as it was on the recall list, so I thought it had to go in, but I didn't have the acceleration problem at the time. (They may have seen it didn't need the software update and didn't do it) This recall issue was either not resolved or it's back again..I can floor the gas and car doesn't move. I have to put it in neutral a few times from drive to get it to move. It's the exact problem known on this car under recall and only the software reset can fix it. Please help me get it fixed! Thank you. (It's very dangerous for me to be stopping traffic at intersections when I'm stuck at Green lights. This is the exact problem in the exact car the exact year it is known for. This recall is good permanently on this car.)

I am having severe transmission issues. Gears are 'unavailable' and will switch me into D1, D2, and so on, all the way up to D8. I can feel the gears shifting (not in a good way), and if the brake is applied too suddenly it will fall out of gear and the service engine light is on, the car will not move. This has happened several times to me, while driving (on the freeway!) VEry dangerous. I see there are 3 recalls for Fiat 500L. I wonder if I am one of the affected.

The Fiat 2014 automatic transmission on my 500L randomly does not continue to move the car when the transmission is in gear. This is a potential collision hazard to me or other vehicles. The car randomly does not move/accelerate when the gas pedal is depressed. The car coasts to a stop while still in gear and I am pressing the accelerator. I need to restart the car when this happens. From Fiat 500USA: "Cause of this issue is the GSM, manufactured Ficosa International, S.A. of Spain. Wide build tolerances within the Supervisor Microcontroller (SMC) inside the GSM can allow temperature to affect the data transfer rates. When the data transfer rate of the SMC becomes desynchronized with the Main Microcontroller (MMC), the GSM resets and the signals to the transmission may be delayed. This can result in an inability to get the vehicle out of park and/or the transmission not receiving, or there is a delay to receive, the intended gear selection." About 67251 miles while stopped in traffic the "Transmission Light came ON" . Car would not move while in gear until I turned the car off then restarted the car. The dealership replaced the transmission control module (Invoice # 25883, $1670.97) in November 2022. " P1CB1-00 Gear Shift Actuator 1 Engage Failure" code stored. The car would not move while in reverse in the dealership parking lot when I went to up pick it up after repairs. I put my foot on the brake and called Gary to come out. He came out, sat in the car and I showed him that car was in reverse but would not move. He exited the car after turning it off. I saw three failed attempts to move the car while i waited for my ride home. VALENTI ALFA ROMEO FIAT in Hartford CT. " No codes stored at this time. .. Unable to duplicate." " Based on symptoms the customer has described the next logical step would be [to] replace ... $4200 parts $1600 labor plus tax. Customer declined repairs at this time."

BEGINNING AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR USED FIAT 500L WE BEGAN HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE TRUNK/BOOT LID NOT OPENING. THE OUTSIDE LATCH NOR THE KEYFOB WOULD OPEN THE TRUNK. TRUNK HAS TO BE OPENED USING THE EMERGENCY LATCH RELEASE WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS EASY TO GET TO. PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING AND OFTEN WHEN A VISIT IS PLANNED TO DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM IS NOT HAPPENING AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE DIAGNOSED. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FIAT AND UNLESS WE ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSIS FEE AT A DEALERSHIP THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST US. THE ISSUE IS KNOWN AND CAN BE EASILY FOUND BY A SEARCH FOR FIAT 500L BOOT OR TRUNK LID ON SITES SUCH AS FIAT500OWNERS.COM, FIXYA.COM,FIATFORUM.COM, AND OTHERS. I WILL PASS THIS SITE ALONG TO OTHERS SO THEY CAN BE REPORTED AND AN INVESTIGATION CAN BE CONDUCTED AND GET THIS ONGOING PROBLEM RESOLVED. MY WIFE IS HANDICAPPED AND WE WILL BE GETTING A NEWER MOTORIZED WHEEL CHAIR THAT CAN BE TAKEN APART AND STORED IN THE TRUNK. THE ISSUE COMES WHEN YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPEN THE TRUNK WITHOUT CRAWLING THROUGH THE BACKSEAT TO USE THE EMERGENCY TRUNK RELEASE OR IF BAGS OR GROCERIES ARE BLOCKING ACCESS TO THE RELEASE. WE LOVE THE VEHICLE BUT ARE NOT HAVING ANY LUCK GETTING A KNOWN ISSUE FIXED. THE TRUNK MIGHT OPEN BEFORE LEAVING FOR A TRIP BUT QUIT WORKING WHEN YOU NEED TO ACCESS IT. THERE IS NOT ANYTHING THAT MAKES THE CONDITION OCCUR OR PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING. THERE IS AN OPEN CASE WITH FIAT BUT AT THIS POINT THEY COULDNT OFFER ANY RESOLUTION. VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE AND SMOKE FROM HOOD. TRANSMISSION DAMAGE. GEAR SHIFT 1 ACTUATOR FAILURE, ATTEMPTED THE ROAD TEST AND FOUND CLUTCH AND SMOKE SMELL FROM TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING AREA. MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FOUND THIS ISSUE MANY TIMES EARLIER. EVENTUALLY VEHICLE STOPPED. INTERNAL TRANSMISSION DAMAGE FROM OVERHEATING (SERVICE CENTER RECOMMENDS REPLACING TRANSMISSION.

TRANSMISSION SEIZED, CLUTCH SMELLED BURNT AND BEGAN TO SMOKE WHICH STALLED THE ENGINE. THE GEARS DISABLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE CAR'S RESPONSE WAS "NORMAL" I TOOK MY CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE CAR AND READ THE COMPUTER CODES. THE CODES THAT DISPLAYED ARE C415H-50197. DEALER CLAIMS THAT CODE IS NON-EXISTENT.
