I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND NOT EVEN A MILE FROM MY HOUSE WHEN I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN MY 2014 DODGE DART SXT STALLED. WHEN IT STALLED THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND I SHUT IT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO START THE NEXT TRY. THEN 7 DAYS LATER, I WAS DRIVING NO MORE THAN 30 SECONDS WHEN I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT ANOTHER STOP SIGN AND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN WITH THE BATTERY LIGHT COMING ON. I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN A FEW TIMES BUT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. I NEEDED A JUMP. I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO A MECHANIC WHO RAN A FEW TESTS ON THE CAR INCLUDING CHECKING THE BATTERY AND CHARGING SYSTEM. HE SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD WHICH I FIGURED SINCE I JUST CHANGED THE BATTERY A YEAR AGO. I DROVE IT HOME. 2 DAYS LATER I WAS TWO BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE WHEN IT STALLED FOR A THIRD TIME (MIND YOU THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE THESE OCCURRENCES). AGAIN, I WAS COMING TO A STOP AND THE CAR STALLED, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, AND I NEEDED TO HAVE A JUMP SINCE I COULDN'T GET IT TO START. AFTER RESEARCHING A BIT, THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE. A FEW PEOPLE SAID THAT CHANGING THE OIL OR ADDING MORE DID THE TRICK SO I CHECKED MY OIL AND IT WAS FINE PLUS I CHANGED THE OIL 3 MONTHS AGO SO IT ISN'T THAT. MOST CASES MENTIONED THAT THIS STARTED TO OCCUR AROUND THE 50,000 MILE MARK, WHICH IS ABOUT WHERE MINE IS. THERE REALLY SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS CAR ' IT'S A DEATH TRAP! WHEN THE CAR STALLS THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AS WELL SO IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY IT WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. THIS ISSUE COULD REALLY HURT SOMEONE AND DODGE REALLY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT OR FIND A SOLUTION. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN JENKINTOWN, PA TO GET LOOKED AT AND WAS INFORMED OF A FEW RECALLS BUT NONE THAT HAD TO DO WITH MY ISSUES. THE FACT THAT THIS IS CLEARLY A COMMON ISSUE IS VERY CONCERNING ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO CLEAR SOLUTION.
WHEN TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE, I EXPERIENCED SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND A RUMBLE NOISE. I THOUGHT IT WAS A WHEEL BEARING BUT MY MECHANIC HAS DIAGNOSED IT AS THE RIGHT FRONT CV AXLE SHAFT, CENTER SUPPORT BEARING NEEDING REPLACED.
FIRST OF ALL, WHEN STEERING TO TURN THERE IS A CRACKING NOISE. IT GIVES THE FEELING THAT THE STEERING SYSTEM IS GONNA BREAK. SECOND MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT CAR SHUTS COMPLETELY DOWN WITH NO REASON WHEN BREAKING. THIS JUST HAPPEN TO ME THIS MORNING. I WAS STOPING BECAUSE OF A RED LIGHT AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN THERE. FOR THE LAST 4 MONTHS MY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AS I'M DRIVING. AFTER 3 TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A FEW TEST THEY DETERMINE THAT DUE TO LOW OIL CONSUMPTION THE CAR HAS A SENSOR THAT SHUTS OFF THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING. DURING ONE OF THESE INCIDENTS MY VEHICLE TURNED OFF AS I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION IN WHICH THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK WHICH LEAD ME TO SLOWLY ROLL INTO THE INTERSECTION ON A RED LIGHT. LUCKILY IT WAS MORNING RUSH HOUR SO NO ACCIDENTS OCCURRED. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD NOT ONLY FOR ME BUT ALSO FOR OTHERS
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, IT STALLED. WHILE DRIVING! COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. LOST POWERING STEERING, BRAKES. BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, BUT LIGHTS AND RADIO WAS STILL ON. TRIED TO START IT UP MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL FINALLY AT THE FIFTH TRY IT STATED AND DROVE LIKE NOTHING EVER EVEN HAPPENED.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE ENGINE WILL STALL RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE, BUT STILL NO RECALLS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. WHEN THE ENGINE STALLS, YOU LOOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. LUCKILY, IT'S ONLY HAP…

TAKATA RECALL: I PULLED OUT OF MY WORK PARKING LOT AT 5PM AFTER IT HAD BEEN SITTING SINCE 7AM AND DROVE ABOUT 2 MINS DOWN THE RODE, CAR BATTERY LIGHT FLASHED AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. ALL LIGHTS AND RADIO, A/C CONTINUED WORKING NORMALLY. I WAS LEFT STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TURNED THE KEY A COUPLE OF TIMES, AFTER ABOUT 5-6 TIMES IT FINALLY STARTED AGAIN AND DROVE AWAY NORMALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES NOW IN THE PAST 6 DAYS. MOST RECENTLY I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY STREET GOING ABOUT 30 MPH IN FAR RIGHT LANE, I SAW THE BATTERY LIGHT FLASH AND I SWERVED INTO A PARKING LOT BEFORE MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. IT IS NOW TAKING 15-20 MINS TO START BACK UP, IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. IT ONLY SEEMS TO STALL FIRST TIME DRIVING IT IN THE MORNING OR AFTER WORK, IN BOTH CASES THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 8-9 HOURS. I'M NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR FEARFUL IT WILL STOP ON ME AND I WONT HAVE A CHANCE TO GET OUT OF HARMS WAY.
THE CAR LOSES POWER AND SHUTS OFF. THE OIL HAS TO BE TOPPED OFF EVERY 60 TO 90 DAYS OR THE CAR WILL NOT RUN OR WILL SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY. WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP, IT MAY MAY NOT START AT ALL. OVER THE PAST YEAR, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED 4 TIMES. THE LAST TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP COST OVER $500…

2RQ25002 · Recall 19V-293 Post Remedy Failures

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Power Train:automatic Transmission:lever And Linkage:floor Shift; Power Train:shift Linkage/cable/rod; Power Train:shift Linkage/cable/rod:retaining Fasteners/hardware
On June 30, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened RQ25002 to investigate and review the effectiveness of Recall 19V-293. This recall was intended to address deterioration and detachment of shifter cable bushings by replacing them with an improved bushing that is less susceptible to deterioration from chemicals, oils, and solvents in MY2013-2016 Dodge Dart vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions and manufactured by Fiat Chrysler Automotive US LLC (FCA US). If the shifter cable becomes detached from the transmission, the transmission gear position may not match the driver’s intended gear selection. This mismatch could result in unintended vehicle movement or rollaway when the driver believes the transmission is in PARK, increasing the risk of a crash and/or injury. ODI has received sixty-three (63) Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQ) alleging worn or misadjusted shifter cables and/or shifter cable detachments in subject vehicles that had already received the remedy for Recall 19V-293. Complainants reported incidents of bushing deterioration and detachment, resulting in gear-selection mismatch despite the prior recall repair, raising concerns regarding the effectiveness and durability of the implemented remedy and the adequacy of the recall. ODI’s investigation sought to determine whether the remedy used in recall 19V-293 adequately addressed the cause of the failure and whether other vehicles using the same bushing design might be affected. In response, FCA US and Dura Automotive Systems Inc. (Dura) determined that the repair for Recall 19V-293 did not sufficiently address the issue, and therefore, a safety defect exists in the subject vehicle population. As a result, FCA US and Dura initiated the following recall actions: · Recall 25V-674 (FCA US) is intended to address MY 2013–2016 Dodge Dart vehicles repaired under 19V-293 or otherwise equipped with suspect service parts. Remedy is under development. · Recall 25E-065 (Dura) is intended to address the defect at the equipment level by recalling affected gearshift control cable assemblies distributed as service components. Remedy is under development. The recalls initiated by FCA US (25V-674), and Dura Automotive Systems Inc. (25E-065) were received prior to ODI sending an Information Request (IR) letter to FCA. These two recalls seem to resolve the concerns that prompted investigation RQ25002 by replacing the previously recalled and service-supplied shifter cable assembly with an improved design, currently under development. The vehicle scope concern identified in this query was addressed by the new recalls including all Model Year 2013–2016 Dodge Dart vehicles produced and equipped with the affected shifter cable assembly. Accordingly, ODI is closing Investigation RQ25002. The agency will continue to monitor field performance and recall completion data to evaluate the effectiveness of the new remedy. ODI reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the ODI reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
