DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 DAEWOO NUBERIA. THE CONTACT 'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN TWO ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF BRAKE PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON AUGUST 12, 2005. ONE PERSON SUSTAINED INJURES IN THE SECOND ACCIDENT. TIN HE FIRST ACCIDENT CONTACT'S VEHICLE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE REAR END. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS A WORSE ACCIDENT THAN THE FIRST ONE BECAUSE OF THE BRAKES WHICH ALSO CAUSED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE CONTACT Y MAY WANT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK BUT DID NOT TRUST THE DEALERSHIP IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON AUGUST 15, 2005. THE SECOND ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON AUGUST 18, 2005. THE OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING THERE SEAT BELTS IN BOTH ACCIDENTS. THE POLICE WAS NOTIFIED IN BOTH ACCIDENTS AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE AFTER THE SECOND ACCIDENT WAS A TOTALED. THERE WERE NO PARTS FOR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE DISCONTINUED. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN BOTH VEHICLES WAS LESS 5 FEET.*AK

CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 106, "BRAKE HOSES." A CRACK CAN DEVELOP IN THE OUTER RUBBER LAYER OF THE FRONT BRAKE HOSE(S).

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS CAN RESULT IN BRAKE HOSE RUPTURE, BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE, AND LOSS OF VEHICLE BRAKING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW REDESIGNED FRONT BRAKE HOSES. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN OCTOBER 25, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAEWOO AT 1-877-362-1234, SELECTION 1.
