DT*: THE CONTACT STATED A RECALL LETTER WAS RECEIVED SEPTEMBER 27, 2004 REGARDING THE AIRBAGS, #02V131001. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP DOES NOT PERFORM RECALL WORK AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER FOR THE MANUFACTURER IS AN ANSWERING MACHINE. THEREFORE, THE CONTACT IS UNABLE TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED.

DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DAEWOO LANOS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN RECALL 04V357000 FOR THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN CORRECTED, BUT SHE STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AND THREE DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE DEALERSHIP BY THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE INSTALLED AN ADDITIONAL FUSE. SHE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP BACK, THEY TOLD HER THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS LOOKED INTO FURTHER. SHE GOT ONTO THE INTERNET AND SAW THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM ON ANOTHER WEBSITE. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYED ON ALL THE TIME AS WELL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS REPAIR WORK WAS DONE ON FEBRUARY 2005. THE SERVICE INVOICES STATED THAT REPAIR WAS DONE FOR THE SENSOR, FUSE KIT, AND BODY ELECTRICAL RECALL (AIR BAG). ALSO, THE REPAIR INVOICE STATED THAT AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL ON AFTER RECALL REPAIRS. THEY TOLD HER THAT THEY COULD FURTHER INVESTIGATE IT AT CHARGE TO HER, BUT SHE DECLINED. THE SERVICE INVOICE PARTS WERE FIXED BOLTS AND NUTS, AND NEW AIR BAG KIT. THE MAIN RECALLS FOR ENGINE AND AIR BAG LIGHTS WERE STILL ON AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE HER A TUNE UP CHARGING HER $2000. *AK

CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 201, "OCCUPANT PROTECTION IN INTERIOR IMPACT."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DO NOT DEPLOY, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF INCREASED HEAD INJURY TO THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SHOULD CONTACT WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG COVER OCCUR.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW ENERGY ABSORBING AIR BAG MOUNTING BRACKETS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 23, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAEWOO AT 1-877-362-1234, SELECTION 1.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ALLOY WHEELS AND SOLD IN PUERTO RICO. THESE WHEELS WERE MANUFACTURED WITHOUT THE STEEL BUSHING INSERTS AROUND THE WHEEL BOLT OPENINGS, ALLOWING FRICTION BETWEEN THE WHEEL BOLT SEATS AND THE WHEEL BOLTS. THIS CAN RESULT IN THE BOLTS LOOSENING DURING HARD BRAKING.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THE WHEEL COULD DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL RETORQUE THE WHEEL BOLTS AND WILL UPDATE THE OWNER'S MANUAL WHEEL BOLT TORQUE SPECIFICATION.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 214, "SIDE DOOR STRENGTH." INCORRECT POSITION OF THE SIDE IMPACT PAD TO THE REAR, INSTEAD OF THE MIDDLE, OF THE DOOR ASSEMBLY.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A SIDE IMPACT ACCIDENT, THE PELVIC PROTECTION FOR THE DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER WOULD BE REDUCED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL CORRECT THE POSITION OF THE SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION PAD.
