The 2017 Pacifica will sometimes have a lack of power when trying to accelerate, and/or will jerk or shutter. Other times, mainly when the engine is warm, it will shutter and die when starting the engine. Sometimes it will take two or three restart attempts for the engine to remain running. In one instance in slow moving stop and go traffic the vehicle stuttered and then accelerated toward the car in front and I had to slam on the brakes to prevent a collision. The vehicle has been back at the dealer multiple times and they claim there are not any codes they can use to diagnose the problem. Even when the engine dies it does not cause the check engine light to come on. When they scan the codes they usually find P0171 and P0174, but they say the codes are not active, only stored. I am told the vehicle is current on all power train software but the problem is still occurring almost daily.
The following issues have occurred about six times in the last two months. While driving down the road, the car will suddenly and without warning die, and all power is lost. The following issues have occurred about six times in the last two months. While driving down the road, the car will suddenly and without warning die, and all power is lost. The car automatically shifts to park, and because there is no power, I cannot restart the car. The fact that I cannot turn on my hazard lights is also a safety issue. When this happens, I am usually going a slow speed or idling. Once while going 35 mph, the car’s system blinked but stayed running. About a quarter of a mile down the road, I was pulling into a parking lot when it died. I barely had enough momentum to steer it out of the roadway. Other issues are windows rolling down and doors opening at random times. No service center has looked at my car or reproduced the defect. I have not spoken to the manufacturer at this point.
VEHICLE COMPLETELY FAILED(SHUTDOWN for the lack of better term). ALL electrical system turned off. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. NO warning message was issued on the dashboard.

My 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Touring Minivan has a steering issue. Within the last several months, when driving at a variety of speeds, the steering wheel “sticks” in turns. It has occurred on regular side roads, secondary roads, and on the highway. It generally happens when turning the car slightly. Examples include: (1.) during a slight turn in the road in a yield situation, (2.) during a slight turn when there is a bend in the road, (3.) when making a slight turn while on the on-ramp on the highway, (4.) occasionally when switching lanes on the highway. During these situations, the steering wheel sticks and does not return to center, instead, it has to be forced out of the momentary stuck position causing unnatural/unpredictable realignment of the car (swerve, jerking the steering wheel, causing panic) . There are no associated lights or warnings. This problem first lead us to stop driving the car out of fear of getting into an accident (safety for ourselves and others). Then, upon research for similar problems on the internet, we see that there has been a recall for 2017-2019 Chrysler Pacificas for steering issues, but our VIN is not included. I’ve had mechanics to look at it, one kept it several weeks trying to find the issue, done research online, the only answers are there’s a problem but no one has a solution. All guess work. The Occupant Classification Module also has created problems with transmission failure. To be able to drive the van, you have to disconnect the passenger seat sensor. Driving down the road with the OCM connected it will suddenly lose power, transmission won’t shift, which can cause a wreck not being able to get out of the way or completing a maneuver. Anytime there’s a steering problem, random transmission problem, or loss of power in traffic, there’s a safety problem.

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power while making turns. The failure nearly caused a collision. The vehicle was able to restart and was taken to the dealer; however, no error codes were retrieved. The dealer reset the transmission. The contact stated that it was a recurring failure for five years; however, the dealers were unable to repair the vehicle due to no error codes being retrieved. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

While turning (exiting off the highway) to the right while going about 65 mph, my steering wheel seemed to stick at 2 o’clock, and had to jerk the wheel to get it to re-center. Immediately after, I had to turn the wheel to the left while doing about 55mph, and it stuck again at about 11 o’clock, and I had to tug the wheel back to center to get it to re-center. For the next 5 minutes, the steering continues to feel as if it was sticking in one position. Even when driving straight, I had to slightly jerk the wheel to follow the very slight curve of the road, in both directions, going as slow as 25mph. About 10 turns, both left and right, where the steering stuck in the initial turn direction, and I had to jerk the wheel back to center. Issue stopped when I was able to stop and turn off the vehicle. This issue happened 4 days before, but not to this extent. It happened twice, within 10 min of each other, both during a turn to the right, at 60mph and 55mph respectively. It is available for indirection upon request. This is very concerning for my safety, because it could absolutely cause a crash, when the driver cannot completely control steering. This problem has not been confirmed by dealership or service center, nor inspected by anyone. There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms before first occurance on 8-11-2022, or any symptoms before sudden sticking on 8-15-2022.

Issue started June 25, 2022. Initially, the shift knob would intermittently lock in park while the engine was running and foot on the brake, unable to shift out of park. Eventually problem cleared itself. Was advised by local auto parts store to replace aux battery and issue should clear. I replaced the auxiliary battery myself the dealership installed the main battery on July 6. Dealership was unable to diagnose. No issues for about 1 week. Problem started again. Check engine light came on along with Service Shift Sensor error message. We made an appointment for the dealership and returned with it on July 19 and told them we needed it back by July 21 end of day. We got the car on July 21. Dealership was unable to service. On July 22, we pulled into parking lot and all systems and vehicle shut down. Multiple error messages. Finally got the car started again and had to wait several minutes for the shift knob to "unlock". Was able to reverse out of parking space but after shifting the knob into Drive, the transmission remained in neutral leaving me stuck in the middle of traffic lane unable to drive. That cleared after a couple minutes, and I was able to get it home. I opened the hood and the battery terminals were loose. I tightened them. The negative terminal on the main battery would not tighten down. I replaced the neg terminal with OEM part from Mopar auto. The error cleared up for several days. On August 1, my wife was driving the car and the transmission shifted into neutral on it's own and then slammed into park in the middle of traffic without warning or shifting the knob. This was a very dangerous situation! We made an appointment for Aug 8 with another dealership. The vehicle had 84 error codes tied to this issue. They determined the vehicle needed a new Electronic Shift Module which they replaced and TCM was reprogrammed. We got vehicle back Aug 12. Shift knob still locks in park. Still not fixed and will not drive due to danger.
Lots of misfire took it to dealer reported it was from spark plug replaced but contined same issue. Then driving everything fine car stalled and wouldn't start. Now being told it's the head gasket. No warning of overheating or anything

Rollx Vans (Rollx) is recalling certain GMC Yukon, Sierra, Chevrolet Express 2500, Ford Transit, E-250, Toyota Sienna, Sienna Hybrid, Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Town and Country, Voyager, Pacifica, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Ram Promaster vehicles equipped with QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max wheelchair restraints. Please refer to Rollx's recall report for specific model year information. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Rollx will work with Q'Straint to inspect and replace the retractors as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 5, 2026. Owners may contact Rollx's customer service at 1-800-956-6668.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of power steering assist or a stall can increase the risk of crash.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the battery ground surfaces, clean the contact surfaces as needed, and properly reassemble the ground connection, free of charge. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica vehicles equipped with the 8-passenger seating option. In certain passenger seating and vehicle situations, the second-row center seating position seat belt buckle could cause the left outboard seat belt to become unlatched.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Inadvertent unlatching of the left outboard seat belt can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a shorter second-row seat belt buckle, free of charge. The recall began October 26, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T54.

Vantage Mobility International, LLC (VMI) is recalling certain 2017 Chrysler Pacifica lowered floor vehicles modified by VMI. The rear pinion bracket on both sides of the vehicle may crack, causing the axle not to be centered and the wheel to wobble.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A wheel wobble may cause a possible loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: VMI will notify owners, and dealers will replace the pinion brackets, free of charge. The recall began on August 14, 2017. Owners may contact VMI customer service at 1-800-488-9082. VMI's number for this recall is PAC20170728.

Vantage Mobility International, LLC (Vantage Mobility) is recalling certain 2017 Chrysler Pacifica lowered floor vans modified by Vantage Mobility for wheelchair accessibility. The affected vans have rear brake lines that might have been crossed during the modification. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: The crossed rear brake lines will cause the rear anti-lock brake system to be ineffective, increasing the risk of a crash.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If passengers occupying the third-row and/or second-row center seats cannot use a seat belt, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the third-row and, if necessary, second-row center overhead seat belt stow bezel, free of charge. The recall began on July 14, 2016. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is opening this Preliminary Evaluation to assess the scope, frequency, and potential safety consequences of alleged defects related to the electric power steering (EPS) system in model year (MY) 2017–2018 Chrysler Pacifica vehicles. ODI has received 94 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) reporting a condition in which the steering system exhibits a sticking sensation during gradual turns, particularly when the steering wheel is positioned near the 11 o'clock or 1 o'clock position. Complainants allege that during these events, increased steering effort is required to return the wheel to center. In many cases, this is followed by a sudden reactivation of EPS assistance, which may result in an oversteer condition. This behavior could increase the risk of a crash, especially at higher speeds. ODI has identified multiple VOQs describing similar symptoms. This investigation will assess the frequency, root cause, and potential safety-related consequences of the alleged EPS malfunction. On February 11, 2022, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) issued a safety recall (NHTSA Recall 22V-077) on all 2017-2018 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) produced between August 12, 2016 through August 7, 2018. The recall addresses ignition “OFF’ fires that originate at the high voltage (HV) battery pack assembly. An ignition ‘OFF’ vehicle fire can result in an increased risk of occupant injury, injury to persons outside the vehicle, and property damage, with little to no warning. At the time of the recall filing the root cause of the vehicle fires was unknown and under investigation by FCA and suppliers. A software remedy designed to improve thermal event detectability by monitoring battery diagnostics is currently being installed on subject vehicles as an interim remedy. As of November 23, 2023, the root cause of the battery failure is unknown. From December 2022 through December 2023, NHTSA has received four consumer complaints (VOQs) alleging vehicle thermal events involving recalled 2017 and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica PHEVs. Additional information collected from complainants confirmed a thermal event originating near or at the HV battery pack after the Recall 22V077 remedy had been applied to the vehicle. Follow up meetings with FCA and suppliers in November and December 2023 to discuss the ongoing root cause investigation and post-recall remedy incidents indicated a recent increase in HV battery thermal events. Furthermore, a review of NHTSA complaint data indicated the post-recall HV battery thermal event complaint rate now exceeds pre-recall levels. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to review the effectiveness of the original recall remedy, understand the root cause of the battery fires, investigate additional reports of Pacifica PHEV HV battery fires, and to increase monitoring of the manufacturer root cause investigation.
