AS WE WERE DRIVING ALONG AN ON RAMP TO A HIGHWAY AS WE REACHED 55MPH THE VEHICLE WAS SLUGGISH AND WOULD "PULL" CONSTANTLY AS WE TRIED TO ACCELERATE ALL THE WAY UNTIL WE REACHED 65-70 MPH. THIS STARTED HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY EVEN WHILE DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS ON CITY STREETS. AGAIN GETTING THAT "PULLING" OR "BUCKING" SENSATION AS WE TRIED TO ACCELERATE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY RETURNED IT STATING THEY FOUND NO ERROR CODES AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER ANOTHER MONTH OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING ALMOST DAILY ON EVERY COMMUTE WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE "ISSUE" AND SAID THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM WAS THE MOTOR MOUNTS WHICH THEY REPLACED. THIS MADE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AND SURE ENOUGH THE VEHICLE STILL HAS THE SAME ISSUE TO THIS VERY DAY. 2ND ISSUE IS THE STEERING GOING COMPLETELY OUT AS YOU MAKE TURNS GOING AT SLOWER SPEEDS SUCH AS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN OR TURNING IN TO A PARKING SPACE. AS I STARTED MAKING A TURN IN TO A PARKING SPACE I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR NEXT TO THE EMPTY SPACE I WAS TRYING TO GO INTO BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE THE "POWER STEERING" WENT OUT AND COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND POWER STEERING FLUID AND PUMP ARE WORKING "FINE" ACCORDING TO MECHANICS. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE SINCE MANY TRAVERSE OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY WHEN WE ARE TALKING ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL A VEHICLE GOING AROUND 25-30 MPH IN A PARKING LOT OR MAKING TURNS IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC (LEFT TURNS). PLEASE HELP WITH THESE ISSUES. *TR

CONSUMER STATES UNINTENDED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AS SHE WAS DRIVING HER SON'S VEHICLE, SHE ACCELERATED TO MOVE TO THE LEFT LANE, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE'S SPEED. SHE ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, BUT TO NO AVAIL. WHEN SHE GRADUALLY REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH. THE CONSUMER PUT THE HAZARDS ON AND PLACED BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE AS SHE TRIED TO HOLD DOWN THE SPEED. FINALLY, AFTER TWO MILES OF RIDING THE BRAKES, SHE WAS ABLE TO EXIT ON THE RAMP AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THEN IN PARK WHERE THE RPM'S FINALLY WENT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND STAYED AT THE DEALER FOR THREE WEEKS. HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. *JB

1ST. MY WIFE WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND HAD TO STOP QUICKLY, THEN WHEN SHE PROCEEDED TO LEAVE AGAIN BY LETTING OFF THE BRAKE - THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND HIT THE CAR PARKED NEXT TO HER. WHEN SHE REMOVED HER FOOT TO THE GAS - NOTHING SHE COULD DO TO PREVENT THIS INCIDENT. 2ND. WHILE IN THE DRIVE POSITION ON A HILL AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC SIGNAL, I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACK ALMOST HITTING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. WE FURTHER TESTED THE VEHICLE ON VARIOUS HILLS/INCLINES BOTH IN DRIVE AND REVERSE AND IT CONTINUED TO ROLL IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE ENGAGED GEAR. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON THIS VEHICLE, THE SERVICE CONSULTANT AT COURTESY CHEVROLET OF ORLANDO, SAID THIS IS A FLAW IN THE POWER TRAIN AND THEIRS NO KNOWN FIX. HE ADVISED US NOT TO DRIVE IT TO THE MOUNTAINS IF IT WERE HIM. SINCE OUR SUV IS FOR MY VACATIONS AND PRIMARY USE, WE ARE VERY CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY. WE CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER VEHICLE SINCE WE HAD SAVED UP FOR THE DOWN PAYMENT FOR THIS CAR. I SAW THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINS OF THE SAME CASE, IT WAS MENTIONED UNTIL SOMEONE DIES AND/OR THE FAMILY FILES A LAWSUIT - NO RECALL OR ACTION WILL BE DONE TO FIX THIS! PLEASE HELP IN ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I SET UP A FACEBOOK PAGE TO ADDRESS THIS CONCERN: HTTP://WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/CHEVYTRAVERSEDEATHTRAP. *TR

I OWN A 2009 TRAVERSE THAT WAS TAKEN TO THE GARAGE FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE A HESITATION IN ACCELERATION. ENGINE SORT OF SPUTTERS. IN A STRAIGHT ACCELERATION AND WHEN IN TURNS. THE GARAGE SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON "TRAIT" IN THE TRAVERSES COMPUTER BUT THAT IT IS NOT AN ISSUE OR DEFECT. THEY SAY THAT THEY CAN "REFRESH THE COMPUTER" BUT THAT I WOULD "LOSE 2MPG" WHEN THEY DO IT. ONE TECH EVEN SAID "THIS IS SORT OF LIKE THE TOYOTA ISSUE". TO ME (A COMPUTER SYSTEMS ENGINEER) IT SOUNDS LIKE THE COMPUTER HAS A BUG IN IT AND NEEDS FIXED OR REPLACED. THE THOUGHT OF LOSING 2MPG IN A SUV IS NOT VERY DESIRABLE BUT I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS ENGINE HESITATION IS NOT CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE ITSELF. HOW IS THIS NOT A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE IF I AM TRYING TO AVOID A VEHICLE? MY CHEVY DEALER SAID THAT THEY WOULD CALL CORPORATE BUT THAT "IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL DAYS". I NOTICE THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE COMPLAINT RE: A 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE. THIS IS CLEARLY A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE!! *TR

SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR, I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION BE VERY ERRATIC. IT SEEMS TO SHIFT DOWN AND UP AT THE WRONG TIMES. IT'S VERY INCONSISTENT AS I TRAVEL THE SAME ROUTE EACH DAY TO WORK, I NEVER KNOW WHAT IT'S GOING TO DO. SOMETIMES IT LURCHES AHEAD AND THE RPM'S ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE, AND DOWNSHIFTS WHEN IT REALLY SHOULDN'T. I'VE TAKEN IT IN FOR REPAIR, THEY PUT THE LATEST COMPUTER CHIP IN IT, WHICH MAYBE HELPED A LITTLE. STILL FOR THE MOST PART IT'S THE WORST CAR I'VE EVER DRIVEN-AS A PASSENGER IT FEELS LIKE THE DRIVER IS EITHER USING THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE WAY TOO OFTEN, WHEN IN FACT, THE DRIVER IS JUST TRYING TO PROVIDE A SMOOTH ACCELERATION OR BRAKING, BUT THE CAR HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN. *TR

Official recalls
8Jun 30, 2015
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured January 3, 2007, to February 29, 2012, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured July 6, 2008, to March 9, 2012, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured September 15, 2006, to February 29, 2012, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured August 17, 2006, to March 18, 2010. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the open liftgate unexpectedly falls, it may strike a person, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit so that the motor will prevent the rapid closing of the lift gate, free of charge. The recall began on November 15, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and Saturn customer service at 1-800-553-6000. GM's number for this recall is 15240.
May 20, 2014
General Motors is recalling certain model year 2009-2014 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through May 14, 2014, Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured June 6, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured April 9, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through March 18, 2010. In the affected vehicles, the flexible steel cable that connects the seatbelt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue and separate over time.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the steel cable becomes fatigued and separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant increasing the risk of an injury in a crash.
Remedy: General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair and replace the lap pretensioner, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim notice will be mailed to owners in July 2014. A second notice will be mailed to owners once parts become available. The recall for the 2009-2010 model years began on July 11, 2014. The interim letter for the 2011-2014 model years were distributed on July 11, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-462-8782 (GMC), 1-800-553-6000 (Saturn). General Motors recall number for this campaign is 14187.
Mar 17, 2014
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2013 Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia and 2009-2013 Chevrolet Traverse and 2008-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles. In the affected vehicles, increased resistance in the driver and passenger seat mounted side impact air bag (SIAB) wiring harnesses may result in the SIAB and seat belt pretensioners not deploying in the event of a crash.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Failure of the side impact air bags and seat belt pretensioners to deploy in a crash increase the risk of injury to the driver and front seat occupant.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected harness connections with soldered connections, free of charge. The recall began on June 16, 2014. Buick owners may contact the owner center at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet owners at 1-866-694-6546, Saturn at 1-800-553-6000, and GMC owners at 1-866-996-9463. GM's number for this recall is 14030. Note: Vehicles repaired as part of Customer Satisfaction Campaign 10085 and special coverage 10335 have already had the subject condition repaired and therefore are not included in the safety recall.

GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, BUICK ENCLAVE, GMC ACADIA, AND SATURN OUTLOOK VEHICLES. THE SECOND ROW SEAT SIDE TRIM SHIELD RESTRICTS THE UPWARD ROTATION OF THE SAFETY BELT BUCKLE WHEN THE SEAT BACK IS RETURNED TO A SEATING POSITION AFTER BEING FOLDED FLAT. IF THE BUCKLE CONTACTS THE SEAT FRAME, ADDITIONAL EFFORT IS REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SEAT TO A SEATING POSITION. IF SUFFICIENT FORCE IS APPLIED, THE BUCKLE COVER COULD BE PUSHED DOWN THE STRAP, EXPOSING AND PARTIALLY DEPRESSING THE RED RELEASE BUTTON.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THE SAFETY BELT MAY NOT RESTRAIN THE OCCUPANT AS INTENDED DURING A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE SEAT OCCUPANT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE SECOND ROW SEAT SIDE TRIM SHIELDS. IF A SAFETY BELT BUCKLE IS DAMAGED, DEALERS WILL REPLACE IT FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 18, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, GMC AT 1-866-996-9463, AND SATURN AT 1-800-972-8876, OR AT THE OWNER CENTER AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.

GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006-2009 BUICK, LUCERNE; CADILLAC DTS; HUMMER H2; MODEL YEAR 2008-2009 BUICK ENCLAVE; CADILLAC CTS; MODEL YEAR 2007-2009 CADILLAC ESCALADE, ESCALADE ESV, ESCALADE EXT; CHEVROLET AVALANCHE, SILVERADO, SUBURBAN, TAHOE; GMC ACADIA, SIERRA, YUKON, YUKON XL; SATURN OUTLOOK; AND MODEL YEAR 2009 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A HEATED WASHER FLUID SYSTEM (HWFS). A RECALL WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2008 TO ADD A FUSE TO THE CONTROL CIRCUIT HARNESS TO ADDRESS THE POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES OF A PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) ELECTRICAL SHORT. HOWEVER, THERE HAVE BEEN NEW REPORTS OF THERMAL INCIDENTS ON HWFS MODULES AFTER THIS IMPROVEMENT WAS INSTALLED. THESE INCIDENTS RESULTED FROM A NEW FAILURE MODE ATTRIBUTED TO THE DEVICE'S THERMAL PROTECTION FEATURE. THE SIGNIFICANCE VARIES FROM MINOR DISTORTION TO CONSIDERABLE MELTING OF THE PLASTIC AROUND THE HWFS FLUID CHAMBER.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE HEATED WASHER MODULE TO IGNITE AND A FIRE MAY OCCUR.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL PERMANENTLY DISABLE AND REMOVE THE HEATED WASHER FLUID MODULE. AN UPDATED PAGE FOR THE OWNER MANUAL WILL BE PROVIDED AND INSERTED IN THE OWNER MANUAL TO DOCUMENT THAT THE FEATURE HAS BEEN PERMANENTLY DISABLED AND REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 11, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2339, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, SATURN AT 1-800-972-8876, GMC AT 1-866-996-9463 AND HUMMER AT 1-800-732-5493 OR AT THE OWNER CENTER AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.

GM IS RECALLING 15,393 MY 2009 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE VEHICLES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 135, "PASSENGER CAR BRAKE SYSTEMS." THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE A PARK BRAKE CABLE LINK (CONNECTOR) THAT IS NOT TO SPECIFICATION. THIS CONNECTOR MAY FRACTURE WHEN THE PARK BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER IS IN THE PARK POSITION, THERE WILL BE NO UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT. HOWEVER, IF THE KEYS ARE LEFT IN THE IGNITION, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER IS IN ANY POSITION OTHER THAN PARK, AND THE VEHICLE IS PARKED ON A SUFFICIENT SLOPE, IT COULD RESULT IN UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT. THIS COULD RESULT IN A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Remedy: DEALERS ARE TO REPLACE THE PARK BRAKE CABLE LINK (CONNECTOR) FREE OF CHARGE. GM ANTICIPATES THAT THE DEALER BULLETIN WILL BE SENT MAY 5, 2009 AND OWNER LETTERS WILL BE MAILED IN JUNE 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OR AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.
Mar 6, 2009
GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING 276,729 MY 2009 BUICK ENCLAVE, CHEVROLET COBALT, HHR, MALIBU, TRAVERSE, GMC ACADIA, PONTIAC G5, G6 AND SATURN AURA AND OUTLOOK PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLES SAFETY STANDARD 102, "TRANSMISSION SHIFT POSITION SEQUENCE, STARTER INTERLOCK, AND TRANSMISSION BRAKING EFFECT", AND FMVSS 114, "THEFT PROTECTION AND ROLLAWAY PREVENTION". ON SOME OF THESE VEHICLES, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP MAY NOT BE FULLY ENGAGED. IF THE CLIP IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED, THE SHIFT LEVER AND THE ACTUAL POSITION OF THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MAY NOT MATCH. WITH THIS CONDITION, THE DRIVE COULD MOVE THE SHIFTER TO "PARK" AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, BUT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MAY NOT BE IN "PARK".
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THE DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE COULD ROLL AWAY AFTER THE DRIVER HAS EXITED THE VEHICLE, RESULTING IN A POSSIBLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND ENSURE THAT THE SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP IS FULLY ENGAGED. IN THE EVENT THAT THE CLIP DOES NOT ENGAGE, THE SHIFT CABLE WILL BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE MARCH 24, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, GMC AT 1-866-996-9463, PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668 AND SATURN AT 1-800-972-8876 OR AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.
Nov 24, 2008
GM IS RECALLING 16,667 MY 2009 BUICK ENCLAVE, CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, GMC ACADIA, AND SATURN OUTLOOK VEHICLES FOR FAILING TO CONFORM WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 209, 'SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES.' THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH A SAFETY BELT BUCKLE IN THE SECOND OR THIRD ROW THAT IS MISSING A RIVET.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IN A VEHICLE CRASH, IF THE RIVET IS MISSING, THE BUCKLE MAY SEPARATE FROM THE MOUNTING STRAP, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE PASSENGER.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SAFETY BELT BUCKLES IN THE SECOND AND THIRD ROWS, AND REPLACE THEM IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 26, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080; CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438; GMC AT 1-866-996-9463; SATURN AT 1-800-972-8876; OR THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE AT HTTP://WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM .

This investigation, related to recall 14V-266, was opened to investigate instances of detachment of the flexible steel seat belt anchor cable attached to the outboard side of the front seats in vehicles manufactured by General Motors (GM). The subject vehicles included model year (MY) 2009 through 2014 GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, and Chevrolet Traverse SUVs as well as MY 2009 through 2010 Saturn Outlook SUVs. These vehicles were previously repaired for this defect under recall 14V-266. The subject vehicle population is approximately 1.3 million vehicles. Special Coverage N192219480, issued in June 2019, addressed the subject defect in vehicles that previously received the recall remedy repair for subject recall 14V-266. The Special Coverage allows for component replacement for 12 years or 180,000 miles from the initial sale date, whichever comes first. Special Coverage N192219480 instructed service technicians to inspect the driver’s seat belt anchor cable for any damage to the protective sleeve and if damage was observed, the cable was replaced with a new sleeve as well as a new closeout piece that relocated the cable to mitigate the subject condition. In view of the Special Coverage conducted by General Motors, the high detectability of the subject failure, and the low rate of occurrence, this Engineering Analysis is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the ODI reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov. RQ19003 · Seat Belt Anchor Cable Failure
Opened May 28, 2019 · Closed Aug 31, 2020
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Seat Belts:front; Seat Belts:front:anchorage; Seat Belts:pretensioner
On May 19, 2014, General Motors LLC (GM) notified the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) that it would conduct Safety Recall 14V266 to address fatigue and separation of the flexible steel cable that connects the front outboard seat belts to the seat-mounted belt pre-tensioner in 1.4 million model year (MY) 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook, 2009-2014 Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse (Lambda Platform) vehicles. The remedy was to inspect for signs of damage and replace pre-tensioner anchor cables as needed. Re-work was conducted to relocate the pre-tensioner anchor cable out of the occupant entry path. ODI has subsequently received four (4) Vehicle Owners Questionnaires (VOQ) reporting anchor cable separations with no apparent warning in covered vehicles after the Recall 14V266 remedy had been applied.ODI opened RQ19-003 to assess the effectiveness of the actions GM took in Recall 14V266 and review the full warranty and complaint data related to seat belt anchor cable separations and replacements. ODI continues to receive occasional cable failure complaints both for the subject vehicles and other GM models and model years that have also been previously recalled addressing this condition.Although the cable separation complaint rate is very low, over the past three years ODI has received two (2) additional VOQ?s citing belt cable separations for Lambda platform vehicles outside the scope of recall 14V266, (11217092, 11118075) and complaints for other GM models covered in a number of similar Safety Recalls:* 15V269, 2011-12 Chevrolet Malibu (11181115, 11288168); * 16V209, 2014-15 Silverado 1500, Sierra 1500 (11254364, 10935183, 10953851, 11025376, 11282043, 11288701, 11309884); and * 16V518 2014-16 Caprice Police Pursuit, SS (10905644, 10990669, 11340893).ODI's review of GM's data confirms the low potential failure rate for the vehicles covered by recall 14V266. However, ODI believes that complainants may not recognize accumulating cable fatigue damage from the visual cues available in routine vehicle use.ODI is upgrading RQ19-003 to an Engineering Analysis to more closely assess seat belt conditions and strength levels in the field. This work will include the collection of seat belt samples from a wider range of recalled and peer vehicles for detailed analysis and testing. The ODI reports (VOQs) associated with this RQ19-003 can be viewed at NHTSA.gov under the following reference numbers: 11144704, 11076704, 11185619, 11151922, 11164011, 10967518, 11113486, 11115648

AQ10001 · Fleet Vehicle Recall Completion Audit
Opened Nov 18, 2010 · Closed Dec 28, 2015
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Unknown Or Other
On November 18, 2010, NHTSA's Recall Management Division (RMD) opened an audit query (AQ10-001) to investigate recall remedy completion by rental car companies on safety recall campaigns. It was expected to provide the agency an indication of how completely and how quickly rental car fleets perform necessary recall-related remedies on the vehicles owned and then rented/leased for use on the roadways.RMD queried three (3) major motor vehicle manufacturers (Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors) and requested data regarding completion figures for fifteen (15) discreet safety recalls.Analysis of this data demonstrated that rental car recalls completion was neither complete nor consistent. The rental car companies representing the largest market share in the industry were then queried as to their respective policies for the rental, lease, and sale of vehicles with open recalls. The data and responses from the manufacturers and the rental car companies can be found in the document repository by accessing the ?Associated Documents link above. In December 2015, Congress enacted the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.One section of the Act prohibits rental car companies from renting, leasing, or selling motor vehicles subject to open safety recalls. With the passage of the FAST Act and its prohibition, there is no continuing need for the agency to investigate rental car recall completions.Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The agency reserves the right to open any future investigations, including audits of individual recalls, or groups of recalls, or rental car companies, to examine more closely safety recalls performance and completion issues in this area.
