I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER, ON 1-20-08 THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED, IT STUCK ON 80 + MPH ( WHEN IT SHOULD BE AT ZERO ) AND WOULD ONLY GO HIGHER IN MOTION. ON 1-23-08 MY WIFE TOOK VEHICLE TO PHILLIPS CHEVY IN FRANKFORT, ILL. WE ARE TOLD THAT IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS THE PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, WE ARE NOT COVERED UNDER NEW CAR WARRANTY BECAUSE WE HAVE EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE. I CHECKED WITH CHEVY TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL IN FORCE AND THERE IS NOT. IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER GM AND CHEVY OWNERS FOR VARIOUS YEARS THAT HAVE SAME PROBLEM AND THERE IS A LAW SUIT IN WASHINGTON AND OREGON THAT ARE SEEKING CLASS-ACTION STATUS. I FEEL THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH GM AND CHEVY AND THAT THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO REPAIR OR REPLACE AS NEEDED. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER ON 4/15/05 SHORTLY THERE AFTER I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH A WHINING SOUND. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE IGNITION PULLEY. I CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE OF CHEVROLET TO INQUIRE ABOUT ASSISTANCE WITH PAYMENT CONSIDERING I WAS ABOUT 3, 000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS CHEVROLET ABSORBED THIS COST. THEN IN SEPT. OF 2005, MY HUSBAND TOTALED HIS CAR AND I PURCHASED A 2005 TRAILBLAZER FOR HIM. AGAIN THIS CAR BEGAN MAKING SIMILAR NOISES AND MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME WITH OUR 2 YEAR OLD SON AND THE CAR BEGAN SMOKING. MY HUSBAND IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND CONTACT ROADSERVICE. ONCE WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC HE SAID THAT IT WAS THE IGNITION PULLEY WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO DIE. WE TOOK IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE ONCE AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY WOULD NOT OFFER ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. IT SEEMS THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS THE RESULT OF AN OIL CHANGE THAT DID NOT OCCUR AT THE 3000. THEY, THE DEALERSHIP BASED THIS OFF OF A STICKER THAT WAS IN THE WINDOW OF THE CAR. WHEN I WENT TO LOOK AT THE CAR THEY WAS NO OIL STICKER IN THE WINDOW. DESPITE THAT, I HAD CONTACTED THE CHEVY OFFICE ABOUT THE SAME WHINING NOISE THAT I HEARD IN MY CAR (THE IGNITION PULLEY) THAT MY HUSBAND WAS EXPERIENCING IN HIS CAR. THIS IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. WE WERE TOLD TO FIX THIS CAR IT WOULD COST $10,000.00, YES, FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE SINCE TOWED TO HOME IN ORDER TO AVOID STORAGE FEES. HERE SITS A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WITH APPROX. 50,000.00 AND A NEW TRANSMISSION IS NEEDED. WE DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THIS AND ALSO PAY THE CAR NOTE ON IT AS WELL. AS A READ REPORTS, THIS IS A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH MANY MANY TRAILBLAZERS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS!!!!! *TR

SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY LIGHTS(INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR) FLICKERING (I HAVE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM AT NIGHT). MY DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED MANY THINGS ON THEIR OWN AND SUGGESTIONS FROM CHEVROLET. THE ALTERNATOR WAS CHANGED, LIGHTS SWITCHES REPLACED, COMPUTER REPROGRAMMED. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT BEING RESOLVED BY CHEVROLET. THIS PROBLEM HAS SOME POTENTIAL TO CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS IF THE EVENTS OCCUR DURING NIGHT TIME DRIVING. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 TRAILBLAZER, AT 105,000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENSOR, ITS THE 3RD FUEL SENOR SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURERED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE FELL TO ZERO MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER STATED THERE IS A RECALL. HOWEVER, HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 64,610 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,510. UPDATED 01-29-08. *KB UPDATED
VOLTAGE DROPS OCCASIONALLY WHILE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. THIS CAUSES MY LIGHT TO DIM AND ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS MY VEHICLE RUNS FUNNY. I HAVEN'T REPLACED ANYTHING YET. I'M STILL TRYING TO GET TO A MECHANIC. *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT ONLY, THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLICKER AND DIM ALONG WITH THE VOLTAGE GAUGE DROPPING DOWN. AFTER 10 OR SO SECONDS, THE VOLTAGE GAUGE RESETS TO 14 AND THE LIGHTS BRIGHTEN TO NORMAL. THE FLICKERING OCCURS AT STEADY DRIVING SPEEDS AS WELL AS DURING SLOW-DOWN. *TR

IN RECENT MONTHS MY FUEL GUAGE INDICATOR LIGHT IS SHOWING LOW FUEL EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN FUELED TO CAPACITY. AFTER SPEAKING A WITH SEVERAL OTHER CHEVY TRAILBLAZER OWNERS, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THEY ARE, OR HAVE EXPERINCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS ADVISED BY ONE OF THE OWNERS THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENSOR. THE COST TO REPLACE THIS ITEM THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP WAS BETWEEN $350-$450. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE AND SPEAKING WITH OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS. ONE CAN CONCLUDE THAT THIS IT A FACTORY, WORKMANSHIP DEFECT; AND THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. FINALLY AS OF THIS COMPLAINT I HAVE NOT REPAIRED THE FUEL SENSOR.*CN

206V417000 · Air Bags:frontal
Oct 31, 2006
CERTAIN VEHICLES ORIGINALLY BUILT WITH CLOTH SEATS THAT WERE EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC AIR BAG PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM AND LATER REUPHOLSTERED WITH AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEAT COVER KITS ARE INVOLVED. TESTING HAS INDICATED THAT THE AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEAT COVERS CAN CAUSE THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS, THE FRONT AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE MAY BE DISABLED WHEN IT SHOULD BE ENABLED, OR ENABLED WHEN IT SHOULD BE DISABLED. IN EITHER CASE, IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THAT REQUIRES AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, A FRONT PASSENGER'S LEVEL OF INJURY MAY BE INCREASED.
Remedy: BECAUSE A REPLACEMENT LEATHER SEAT COVER THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE, GENERAL MOTORS (GM) WILL REPURCHASE THESE VEHICLES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS STATED IN GM'S LETTER TO OWNERS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 6, 2006. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT GM AT 1-877-477-1022 TO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF REPURCHASING THEIR VEHICLE.
05V035000 · Visibility:windshield
Feb 3, 2005
CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 212, 'WINDSHIELD MOUNTING.' THE WINDSHIELD URETHANE BEAD MAY NOT HAVE ADHERED TO THE BODY IN CERTAIN AREAS DURING THE CURE PROCESS.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF A CRASH OCCURS, THE WINDSHIELD MAY NOT BE RETAINED, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY TO A VEHICLE OCCUPANT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 10, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OR GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.

2RQ17002 · Loss Of Headlights
Opened Apr 24, 2017 · Closed Mar 29, 2021
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Exterior Lighting:headlights
The subject vehicles are model year (MY) 2002-2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, 2004-2007 Buick Rainier, 2003-2008 Isuzu Ascender, 2005-2009 Saab 9-7X, 2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR, 2005-2009 Buick Lacrosse, and 2006-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix. This scope includes the Trailblazer/Envoy variants: 2002-2006 Envoy XL/Trailblazer EXT and 2004-2005 Envoy XUV. The original scope of this investigation was expanded to include all vehicles equipped with the subject Headlight Driver Module (HDM). The focus of the investigation was to determine whether actions performed by General Motors adequately addressed any unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety in the subject vehicles concerning the headlights and the HDM that controls them.Under normal electrical load and environmental conditions, the HDM can overheat inside the Underhood Electrical Center (UEC). This can cause the module to fail and result in a simultaneous loss of both low beam headlights and both daytime running lights (DRLs), often with no warning or prior detectability to the driver. This failure can be intermittent or permanent. No other exterior lights are affected. High beams, turn signals, brake lights, and reverse lights are still operational.General Motors addressed this issue with 2 recalls (14V755 & 15V519) and a special coverage program (N172091910). In view of the recalls and special coverage program implemented by GM and the vehicle high beams continuing to operate, ODI has tentatively concluded that the actions taken by GM mitigate any unreasonable risk to safety posed by HDM failure in the subject vehicles.Accordingly, the investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances. The ODI reports cited above are available for review online at NHTSA.gov under the identification numbers in the attached document.
