The brakes become very hard to engage while at a low speed, consistently in traffic and the car rider line at school. It has caused me to almost hit cars in front of me and people walking between cars. To me, it feels like the brakes are sticking and not releasing fully when I release the pedal to recoil and as if a line is going to be filled with pressurized air to work again and it is not able to do so. If i wait and let the cars go far ahead of me and the blast without using brakes, there isn’t a need to keep using the brake m, but this is not how to drive in traffic and it isn’t safe. It also is scary to not rely on the function of my brakes and it is putting people at risk every day I drop my kids off or kick them up from school. I have had the brakes evaluated for repair, but I am told there is no issue with the brake pads or roters. No warning lights. It resolved after having my brakes evaluated and tires replaced, but it has returned.

Luckily I was on a residential street and was able to get out of the road with a lot of effort steering. The car was taken to a local mechanic and we were told the power steering motor went out. The transmission went out at 93,000 miles and we took it in to be repaired under warranty. We were told a new transmission would be installed after being shipped from Detroit MI. When we picked up the vehice we discovered it was not a new transmission but a remanufactured transmission. We drove it home 25 miles home and it did not shift properly. We immediately called the dealership back to report it and was asked to bring it back. The dealership check it and said there was nothing wrong with it we just needed to drive it so it could learn our driving habits. This transmission lasted 104 days. We were out of town and my husband drove it to town to get breakfast and the transmission was slipping so bad he almost didn't get back with it. We had to have it towed to the nearest dealer 30 miles away and rent a car to get home. The second remanufactured transmission was installed by GM on 5/23/23 and we picked it up on 5/26/23. Upon driving it home this 2nd transmission was shifting hard. I contacted GM regarding it and was told to take it to be checked out. Once again we were told we just needed to drive it so it cold learn our driving habits. It is unsafe to drive as my husband drove it 4 miles to the grocery store and still at the traffic light he is pressing the gas to go and the vehicle would not move/go forward. He quickly had to put his flasher on and put the vehicle in park to keep from being hit from behind. He was finally able to get the vehicle to move and got home. The vehicle shifts so hard that it feels like you have been hit from behind by another car. GM keeps telling me there is nothing wrong with the vehicle but it is not safe to drive when you dont know if the transmission is gonna go out while you are going 70 mph down the interstate or get rearended becasue yourr vehicle doesn't move when the light turns green.

26V289000 · Power Train:transfer Case (4-WHEEL Drive)

May 7, 2026

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2026 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, and GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles with four-wheel (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), and certain 2015-2020 Suburban, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Tahoe vehicles. A component missing from the drivetrain transfer case may cause the front and/or rear wheels to lock up without warning to the driver.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Front or rear wheel lockup increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transfer case assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 18, 2026. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223. GM's number for this recall is N262557620. 19V761000 · Electronic Stability Control (esc); Service Brakes; Service Brakes, Hydraulic:antilock/traction Control/electronic Limited Slip:wheel Speed Sensor/tone Ring

Oct 24, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.
