While driving this 2026 Chevy Silverado, the engine has shut off while driving it. While driving down the road the engine will shut off and a message on the display will show "Return to Neutral" and "Press Start". This is very dangerous to have a vehicle shut off while driving down the road as it affect my family and other drivers on the road. The vehicle need to be completely stopped to shift to Park, in order to start the vehicle again. There are no signs or warnings that this is going to happen, it just happens randomly. The dealer can not reproduce the problem but did confirm to me this has happened to several other same make/model vehicle that have been reported at the same dealership. On another unrelated safety issue with this same vehicle, the gas tank over flows when filling it up. Dealer was able to reproduce this problem, but doesn't know how to fix it yet. Is waiting to GM to approve what should be replaced, under warranty. This is dangerous for me and other people at gas stations. I can't fill my vehicle up all the way with fuel, otherwise it runs down the side of the vehicle and on to the ground where it is very flammable.

Twice under 3200 miles while pulling into driveway on an incline the vehicle shifted to neutral then turned off and began to roll backwards down my driveway. No codes or CEL came on the display read press start to restart engine so I did that and it started and ran normally until it happened again while pulling into driveway. I took vehicle to my local chevy dealer they pulled history codes and saw 8 communication error codes with various areas of vehicle, checked battery and charging, test drove it and said they found nothing wrong with vehicle. This is a safety issue and should be investigated further, very disappointing on a brand new vehicle only 3 months old.

On XXX, my Chevrolet Silverado experienced a sudden, severe loss of normal braking shortly after I dropped my child off at school. When I attempted to stop at a stop sign, the vehicle would not stop normally. The brake pedal remained firm, but braking effectiveness was drastically reduced and required extreme force. The dashboard simultaneously displayed multiple warnings involving the brake/ABS system, ESC, steering-column lock, and trailer-brake system. OnStar generated a diagnostic/safety report identifying fault/error code P062F. The vehicle then entered a reduced-speed/limp-mode condition. I was extremely fortunate this occurred within approximately one mile of Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of [XXX] and with little traffic around me. I was able to reach the dealership without a collision. Had this occurred at highway speed, the inability to stop normally could have resulted in a fatal crash. The incident also occurred immediately after school drop-off. Had I used the normal car line instead of parking and walking my child inside, this failure could have occurred among stopped vehicles while children were actively exiting them. I immediately brought the vehicle to Rick Hendrick Chevrolet. Despite the seriousness of the event, I do not believe the cause was adequately investigated. To my knowledge, a computer/software update was performed and I was essentially told to “let them know if it happens again.” They also asked what i was towing - nothing.I questioned whether an electrical fault or short could have caused the multiple simultaneous failures, but I am not aware of that possibility being investigated. Because another occurrence could cause serious injury or death, I refused to continue driving the vehicle and traded it in. I have now learned that the same vehicle is being offered for sale again. I am reporting this to NHTSA because I am concerned the underlying safety defect remains unresolved and could represent an early instance of a broader defect. I have been having issues with my vehicle for the last 1,000 miles or so where it appears to be losing power while accelerating normally, i'm not sure if the issue lies with the engine or powertrain/transmission. I took to dealer last week and they were unable to reproduce. The issues have been getting more frequent and intially were only occuring after the vehicle warmed up, now it has started while vehicle is cold. Feels like the power drops (rpms drop) during a normal acceleration. As of 7/16 I now have a check engine light on, onstar indicates an issue with my engine, transmission, electrical. This is putting myself at safety risk along with others as during my normal drive the engine is losing power and could either leave me stranded or cause an accident.

The contact stated that while driving 25 MPH and attempting to depress the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lost motive power, the contact attempted to start the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as intended. The check engine warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. The dealer cleared the codes, and the vehicle was then taken to another dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the ground strap needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part was on back order and might take six months for the part to do the repair to be available. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

The vehicle lost motive power, the brakes and the steering wheel became inoperable. The message "Depress Start" was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was initially diagnosed that the battery failure was unsoldered. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While being test-driven by the mechanic, the vehicle stalled. After further investigation, it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to the main bearing failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, opened a case and informed the contact that a case worker, near his location, would contact him in 24 hours. The failure mileage was approximately 9,025.

2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Safety Issue Summary: I am filing a complaint regarding critical safety defects with my vehicle. The truck displayed warning messages for traction control service and brake system failure on the instrument panel while parked in my driveway, prior to the vehicle becoming inoperable, I experienced dangerous driving conditions including swerving similar to hydroplaning on two separate occasions. Details: The vehicle was picked up on a flatbed on May 11th, 2026 because it would not start or run. When I drove it before this incident, I experienced the vehicle swerving dangerously similar to hydroplaning on two different occasions 5/1/26 and 5/9/26. Upon inspection, warning messages appeared on the dashboard indicating traction control system service and brake system failure. These are critical safety systems. Chevrolet HE Dealership in Wichita Falls, Texas performed a diagnostic and claimed to find only a dead battery and parasitic draw. They refuse to address the traction control or brake system failures and claim they cannot duplicate the issues. They are pressuring me to accept the vehicle without written confirmation that these safety systems have been repaired. Safety Risk: A vehicle with non-functioning traction control and brake system failures is unsafe to operate. I cannot accept this vehicle until these critical systems are properly diagnosed and repaired.Than you for your help in this matter.
