The contact stated that water was coming from underneath the driver’s side dashboard. Additionally, the steering wheel was jerking while the lane assist feature was activated; however, the vehicle was not veering to the left or right side of the lane. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and several failure codes were retrieved, and a water test was performed; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was repaired; however, while the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The driver pulled over to the shoulder of the road, and after selecting the 2WD feature, the 4WD feature was disengaging, even though the 4WD warning light was not illuminated. On Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., I was driving my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Duramax on Highway 40 while towing a properly connected trailer. The Multi-Flex tailgate had been fully closed and latched before I began my trip and had not been opened at any point prior to the incident. While traveling on the highway, a California Highway Patrol officer pulled alongside my vehicle and alerted me that my tailgate was down and bouncing on the trailer I was towing. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder and observed that the entire Multi-Flex tailgate had unexpectedly unlatched and was resting on the trailer. I closed and latched the tailgate, which appeared to operate normally, and continued to my destination. At no time before or during the incident did the vehicle display a "Tailgate Open" warning or any other warning message on the instrument cluster. The unexpected opening of the tailgate caused it to strike the trailer, resulting in damage to the Multi-Flex tailgate, the rear bumper, and the trailer. The vehicle has approximately 11,000 miles, was purchased new, and has not been modified. I have opened a case with General Motors, and the vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership.

1st incident My son was driving the truck when all the emergency lights came on. He pulled over and the engine was on fire. He ran to a strangers house to get buckets of water not safe for my child at all. Come to find out that an engine rod slipped and put three holes through the engine causing oil to spill and a fire unbelievable! Lucky my son wasn’t injured. Chevy blames my son for that! Not acceptable! 2nd incident 1 month later my son calls and tells me when he started the truck it began making noise. He again got stuck with this truck because it lost complete power. Come to find out the transmission went. Chevy blamed my son again! Really come on! We have paid more for this truck than drive it. Now they are taking the warranty away. Please help. 2025 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, VIN [XXX] , purchased new in April 2025. Total transaction value exceeded $50,000 including trade in of previous vehicle. Has experienced repeated serious electrical failures in under a year and 16,500 miles. Components that failed: Telematics module causing parasitic battery drain, DC/DC converter module, radio, and two complete battery failures. Turn signal was also triggering the high beams to flash, a separate electrical issue repaired under warranty. All components are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: First battery failure occurred in January at 10,000 miles while traveling in the desert with my wife and infant son. We were stranded with no Chevrolet dealer accessible. Second battery failure occurred at 16,500 miles. A failed DC/DC converter module was discovered immediately after the latest round of repairs when the dashboard lit up with multiple warning lights and a check engine light the same day I picked up the vehicle. I drive this truck daily for work and transport my young child in it regularly. Repeated unexpected failures create a serious and ongoing safety risk. Confirmed by dealer: Yes. George Chevrolet confirmed and attempted repairs on the telematics module, DC/DC converter module, and radio. All failures documented on official repair orders. Warning lamps: Yes. Multiple warning lights and check engine light appeared immediately upon pickup after the most recent repairs. Manufacturer response: General Motors denied my repurchase request despite multiple confirmed warranty failures and has not offered a replacement vehicle. My vehicle frequently loses all cabin sound, including the radio, audible turn signal, and forward/rear collision and lane departure warnings. When this occurs, the cabin is completely silent. The loss of radio audio is an inconvenience, but the loss of safety feature alerts is a clear hazard. My dealership has suggested this may be related to a recent software update; however, there is no apparent correlation between the updates and when the issue occurs.

Driving 30 mph down a city street when heard a pop and vehicle completely lost power at speed. Engine turned off and I coasted to a stop, which was unfortunately at an intersection and due to traffic could not get over safely. All accessories were still on however I could not restart the vehicle or put the vehicle into neutral, which left me stranded in the middle of a busy intersection. Hazards were working intermittently, at best. Had to call local PD to provide traffic control while we disconnected the battery and reconnected it while standing in an intersection. After I was able to get the vehicle restarted it had a check engine light and the OnStar app showed Transmission, Ignition, and Engine Electrical warnings. Had the vehicle towed to the dealership, where they have had it for 7 days and cannot diagnose an issue and are trying to return the vehicle to me unfixed. They stated they typically would not even try to diagnose it for this long, however I have a case open with the GM executive team.

Opened Aug 20, 2026 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Engine

On January 16, 2026, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query RQ26001.  This investigation was opened to assess the remedy effectiveness of Recall 25V-274. ODI has received complaints alleging engine failure in vehicles after the recall remedy had been completed, whether that remedy involved an oil viscosity change or a complete engine replacement. General Motors (GM) issued Recall 25V-274 to address concerns of engine failure in the L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021 and May 31, 2024. GM cited the root cause as a supplier manufacturing and quality issue. GM’s recall remedy for Recall 25V-274 consisted of two different repairs, either an oil viscosity change or an engine replacement, based on the results of the remedy inspection procedure. ODI continues to receive reports of engine failures after the completion of the recall remedy. To date, ODI has received 499 complaints alleging post-remedy engine failure in vehicles subject to Recall 25V-274, 473 of which involved an oil viscosity change and 26 a complete engine replacement. Additionally, ODI has received 191 reports of L87 engine failures in engines produced after the production period cited in Recall 25V-274. GM reported receiving 6,953 complaints of post-remedy engine failure. ODI is opening this Engineering Analysisto continue investigating complaints of post-remedy engine failure. ODI is expanding the scope of this Investigation to include engines produced after the production period cited in the recall.
