"Approximately four months ago, I noticed an oil leak coming from the midsection of the engine/transmission of my 2019 Chevy Silverado LTZ with the 6.2-liter engine. At the same time, I noticed a slight knocking or rattling noise coming from, I believe, the front of the engine. Upon taking it to the dealership, they replaced the engine oil coolant lines, only to find out that the engine was still leaking oil and still making the knocking and rattling noise. They then discovering that it was the rear main seal, they have since replaced it about one week ago. Yesterday, February 6th, about 12:15 pm in the afternoon, while I was getting off the I-405 in Renton Washington and merging onto the southbound lanes of 167. I was in the left lane and I made it about a quarter mile down 167 doing about 60 to 65 miles per hour and I lost power suddenly. As I started to merge into the right lane, I noticed the engine light came on, and then the truck seemed to kick down into first gear while I was doing 50 miles per hour, which instantly slowed it down. This forced me to cross over an on-ramp lane to get to the shoulder and come to a complete stop. After that, the truck would not start at all. I then had to sit on the side of the road for three and a half hours waiting for a tow truck to take me and my truck back to the dealership, which is also the same dealership where I bought the truck back in 2019. They have not diagnosed it yet as I just dropped it off at 4 pm on 2/5/2026. My truck has approximately 155,000 miles on it.

The transmission fluid was found to be burnt, and the vehicle requires major transmission repair. These symptoms occurred during normal driving conditions and created a safety concern due to unpredictable vehicle behavior, particularly during acceleration and merging. This issue is widely reported in 2019 vehicles equipped with GM 8-speed transmissions. GM has acknowledged the issue through technical service bulletins but has not issued a recall.

While driving the vehicle I began to hear a ticking noise in the engine (lifter tick) and the check engine light came on. The vehicle began to lose power and started shaking. I stopped the vehicle and turned it off and restarted it and began to drive as I was not far from home. I found that the vehicle did not have full power and was not firing on all cylinders. After getting the vehicle home a diagnostic code showed cylinder 2 was not firing. The vehicle was towed to the dealership who confirmed there was a bad lifter and roller that dug into the camshaft. The sudden loss of power and shaking of the vehicle while driving is the safety concern. It seems that this is a common problem with these engines that GM is aware of and has failed to address.

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3ltr V8. The vehicle has 44,500 miles and has zero accident history. On 01/12/2026, the oil cooler line broke while driving, leaving 8 qts of oil covering the underside of the vehicle (exhaust, suspension and tires) creating a fire hazard along with possible loss of control with the rear tires coated in oil. Additionally, the vehicle is undrivable almost immediately due to zero oil pressure. The local Chevrolet dealership diagnosed it as a oil line failure. There is a Chevrolet Customer service program N212326940 for only certain VIN for this vehicle for this specific problem, however it doesn't cover my vehicle. In reviewing different web forums, this is a commonly known failure point with some defect to the hose clamp. GM has not extended a recall and has stopped covering this known failure. I'm not sure if it's a vendor/supplier failure with the oil line or an installation problem. A full recall and/or 10yr/100k warranty coverage should be provided for all oil line failures due to thousands of prior similar failures with the same oil line.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle remained stuck in 3rd and in 4th gears upon depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle contact stated that the vehicle experienced a hard shift while driving. The contact stopped, parked, and turned off the vehicle for 10 minutes; however, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the failure could not be replicated. The contact was informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,900.

Component or system failure: The engine valvetrain (camshaft and lifters) sustained severe internal damage, including camshaft scouring, confirmed during inspection and teardown by an authorized Chevrolet dealership. In addition, the rear differential was found to contain no gear oil when the fill plug was removed during inspection. The vehicle and components are currently at a Chevrolet service center and are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The vehicle experienced persistent drivetrain vibration and abnormal operation that worsened over time and ultimately rendered the vehicle non-operable. Internal engine damage and a rear differential without lubrication present a risk of sudden drivetrain failure, loss of propulsion, or loss of vehicle control, particularly at highway speeds. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate. Problem confirmed: Yes. Engine damage has been confirmed by the dealership during teardown. The absence of gear oil in the rear differential was directly observed during inspection. Inspections by others: Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership and by third-party inspectors associated with the extended drivetrain warranty administrator. Two inspections have been completed, and a third inspection has been ordered. No repairs have been completed as of this report. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: Beginning around approximately 21,000 miles (2022), the vehicle developed drivetrain vibration. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership at that time, but the cause was not identified or corrected. No warning lamps or messages are recalled.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission failed to shift properly and the vehicle failed to accelerate above 43 MPH, with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the brake pedal became inoperable and required several pumps before the vehicle was able to stop. The contact stated that OnStar Service was contacted and initially provided several error codes on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The contact later contacted OnStar Service again to obtain the error codes and was informed that no error codes were present, and none were provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 vehicles equipped with certain accessory road tires and a 17" spare tire. The 17" spare tire provided with the vehicle is not compatible for use with the accessory wheels, which can cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) to not function properly under certain conditions.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An ABS system that does not function properly can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will provide a new 17" spare tire and wheel assembly that is compatible with the accessory wheels, free of charge. Dealers will also apply a new spare tire information label, and provide owners with an owner's manual insert clarifying which spare tire to use with the accessory road tires and with the 17" original tires. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the driveshaft separates, there may be a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of crash.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of electronic brake assist can increase the risk of a crash.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. The battery positive (B+) cable rings may have been manufactured with excessive glue, potentially causing an intermittent electrical connection between the B+ cable and alternator.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An intermittent electrical connection between the B+ battery cable and the alternator could cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. The intermittent connection could also lead to electrical arcing, which could generate sufficient heat to damage surrounding material, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect for the presence of glue or other contamination at the B+ cable attachment to the alternator and clean the connection and reattach the B+ cable connection, as necessary. If arcing has damaged the cable, nut, or alternator, the dealer will replace the damaged components. All services will be performed free of charge. GM issued owners an interim notification on February 4, 2020. GM issued second notice and the recall began March 9, 2019. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, and 2020 Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 vehicles equipped with carpet floor covering. When the front seat belt pretensioners deploy, hot gas may vent through an opening in the pretensioner bracket, possibly igniting the carpet.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A vehicle fire could result if materials ignite inside the vehicle.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will close off the opening in the pretensioner bracket, free of charge. The recall began December 13, 2019. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab and GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab vehicles. The passenger-side frontal air bag module may have been damaged during assembly, possibly resulting in the air bag not inflating properly in the event of a crash.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: In the event of a crash, an air bag that does not inflate properly can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger side air bag module, free of charge. The recall began on December 18, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N182198820.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 1,157 reports of engine bearing failure failures in the L87 6.2L engine produced by General Motors (GM). Of the 1,157 reports received, 173 are outside of the scope of recall 25V-274. These engines are installed in Model Years (MY) 2019–2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, and 2021-2024MY Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV vehicles. The subject engine failures were investigated as part of a Preliminary Evaluation (PE25001). GM determined that these engine failures were due to multiple supplier manufacturing and quality issues. GM issued recall 25V-274 to address the supplier manufacturing and quality issues produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024. Based on the issuance of recall 25V-274, NHTSA has closed PE25001. ODI continues to receive a significant number of reports of engine failure in vehicles outside the scope of 25V-274. This presents a potential safety risk that warrants further investigation. ODI is opening this Engineering Analysis (EA) to further evaluate the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues of vehicles built outside the recall scope.
