THERE WAS PRE-IMPACT BRAKING, THE SEAT BELT WAS WORN AND THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THERE WERE INJURIES …

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION THAT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH. THE OTHER VEHICLE IN THE ACCIDENT WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH. THERE WAS PRE-IMPACT BRAKING, THE SEAT BELT WAS WORN AND THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THERE WERE INJURIES TO THE CONTACT'S KNEE CAP AND TWO FRACTURED BONES ON THE LEFT LEG. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED.

GM IS CONDUCTING A RECALL ON ALL SUBJECT VEHICLES BUILD BETWEEN MAY 1999 AND OCTOBER 14, 1999.SIGNIFICANT CHANGES WERE INCORPORATED INTO PRODUCTION IN EARLY OCTOBER 1999, AND VEHICLES BUILT AFTER THAT DATE HAVE LOWER WARRANTY FAILURE RATES.THE COMPLAINT AND WARRANTY DATA APPEAR TO SUPPORT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THESE CHANGES.
