AFTER SHOPPING AT A LOCAL MALL, MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING HOME ON THE LOCAL EXPRESSWAY TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH IN A STRAIGHT LINE, NO CURVES, WHEN A LOUD TONE ALARM WENT OFF IN MY 2015 CHEVY COLORADO. THE CONTROL PANEL ERROR "SERVICE POWER STEERING DRIVE WITH CARE" DISPLAYED AND I LOST ALL POWER ASSIST. THE WHEEL STIFFENED UP AND A DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION PRESENTED ITSELF. SINCE IT WAS NEARLY A STRAIGHT SHOT TO MY HOME, ONLY 3 TURNS INVOLVED TO MY DRIVE WAY WE LIMPED HOME SINCE MY WIFE IS IN ILL HEALTH. I WAS CAREFUL TO TAKE THE 3 TURNS SLOWLY ALTHOUGH THE WHEEL WAS VERY HEAVY AND FOUGHT MY MOVEMENTS. WHEN IT WAS SAFE TO EVENTUALLY TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, A RESTART REMOVED THE ERROR AND THE WHEEL WAS AGAIN EASY TO TURN AND A QUICK TEST DRIVE PROVED UNEVENTFUL. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AND WILL CONTACT THE DEALER IN THE MORNING. IT IS NOW SUNDAY AND THEY ARE NOT OPENED.

POWER STEERING FAILED AS I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS ON A STATE HIGHWAY, MAKING CONTROL VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. DASH DISPLAYS ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS AND A MESSAGE THAT READS "SERVICE POWER STEERING, DRIVE WITH CARE". STEERING BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT AND REQUIRES A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF EFFORT TO TURN THE WHEEL. THE ISSUE RESOLVED AFTER TURNING OFF THE TRUCK. IT HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY 3 TIMES ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY. ALTHOUGH MY COLORADO WAS BUILT IN 2/2015 THE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR STEERING ISSUES. THIS IS DANGEROUS.

May 8, 2015
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured January 6, 2014, to April 1, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the hooks that secure the driver's and/or front passenger's seat frame may not have been properly attached to the vehicle body during assembly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems."

The affected vehicles have a front driver air bag inflator that may be misaligned to the air bag module backplate. This can cause the inflator to separate from the backplate during a deployment.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the inflator separates from the back plate in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, this may cause the air bag or steering wheel components to separate and be propelled into the interior compartment, potentially seriously injuring the driver or other occupants. Additionally, the air bag may fail to properly inflate, increasing the risk of injury to the driver.
Remedy: GM has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the driver air bag module inflator for proper alignment, replacing the air bag, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 19, 2015. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the driver air bag does not deploy as designed, there is an increased risk of driver injury in the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment.
