WHILE UNDER PRE OWNED WARRANTY TRUCKS POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK WHEN VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED. ONLY ACTIVATING AFTER RESTARTING VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES. TOOK IT IN TO JOHN L SULLIVAN IN ROSEVILLE THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH A RECALL. BY THIS TIME IT HAD HAPPENED TWICE. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON I 80 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON MY WAY TO WORK AT THE DMV. MY FIRST WEEK OF EMPLOYMENT WITH THE STATE. LUCKILY IT WASNT DURING A TURN BECAUSE IT WAS A STRUGGLE JUST TO GET IT OFF TO THE SHOULDER. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP THE SAME DAY WHERE THEY WERE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. PERHAPS THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY IS WHAT MADE THEM UNABLE TO ORIGINALLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS NOW UNDER 2K OVER WARRENTY LIMIT OF 36K. IN THE END THEY REPLACED RACK AND PINION FOR TOTAL OF 1700 DOLLARS. AFTER ALL THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FAULTY CLAIMS THEY MADE BEFORE THIS ISSUE I WOULDNT PUT IT PAST THEM TO HAVE SEEN THE PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE WHEN SPEAKING TO A SERVICE REP OVER THE PHONE HE MENTION THAT WITHIN A YEAR OF ME BUYING THE VEHICLE THEY HAD UPDATED OR CORRECTED SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE STEERING. SOMETHING THE REP AT THE FIRST ENCOUNTER OF BRINGING THE TRUCK IN FAILED TO MENTION

15V267000 · Seats

May 8, 2015

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured January 6, 2014, to April 1, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the hooks that secure the driver's and/or front passenger's seat frame may not have been properly attached to the vehicle body during assembly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems."

15V157000 · Air Bags:frontal:driver Side:inflator Module

Mar 18, 2015

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles manufactured September 15, 2014, to January 21, 2015, and 2015 GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured October 3, 2014, to December 9, 2014. The affected vehicles have a front driver air bag inflator that may be misaligned to the air bag module backplate. This can cause the inflator to separate from the backplate during a deployment.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the inflator separates from the back plate in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, this may cause the air bag or steering wheel components to separate and be propelled into the interior compartment, potentially seriously injuring the driver or other occupants. Additionally, the air bag may fail to properly inflate, increasing the risk of injury to the driver.

Remedy: GM has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the driver air bag module inflator for proper alignment, replacing the air bag, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 19, 2015. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the driver air bag does not deploy as designed, there is an increased risk of driver injury in the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM), free of charge. The recall began on October 6, 2014. In May 2019 the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Recall Query (RQ19-001) to assess the scope of General Motors (GM) recall 16V-054. ODI had received 50 complaints with allegations of loss of electric power steering assist while the vehicle was in motion. These complaints were for vehicles outside the scope of recall 16V-054 yet exhibited the same symptoms.ODI?s review focused on specific build months outside the recall scope that had a high electric power steering failure rate and failures that were the same or similar to those addressed by the remedy associated with recall 16V-054. ODI?s review of data supplied by GM confirmed a high failure rate for vehicles outside of the recall scope. On March 25, 2021, GM filed a defect information report recalling select 2015 Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon vehicles to remedy a potential loss of power steering assist while driving. The recall (21V-213) includes vehicles that were not addressed by recall 16V-054 and also prompted this recall query. In view of the recall, ODI is closing this recall query. Despite closing this investigation, NHTSA reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. The ODI complaints cited above can be viewed at www.nhtsa.gov under the following ODI identification numbers in a separate attachment. ?
