I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE NEW 7 MONTHS AGO. NOW THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS GETTING WORSE. THE FRONT-END, STEERING WHEEL, SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES DURING NORMAL DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE PROBLEM 3 DAYS AGO, AND THE SERVICE MAN TOLD ME IT WAS PROBABLY WARPED FRONT ROTORS SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR TODAY. I WENT IN AND THE SERVICE MAN (A DIFFERENT ONE) TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD FIX IT, BUT THAT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS WHAT UPSETS ME MOST. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, SO WHY DO I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE ROTORS TO BE FIXED? THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 1998 AND NEWER CAMARO'S AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY. *AK
DEALER HAS REFACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS TWICE ONCE UNDER WARRANTY AND ONCE FOR $100.00 I BELIEVE THE ROTORS TO BE DEFECTIVE DUE TO OEM QUALITY OR HEAT TREAT SPECIFICATIONS AND ENGINEERING STANDARDS, THERE ARE AFTERMARKET ROTORS AVAILABLE THAT DO NOT WARP WITH THE SEVERITY AND FREQUENCY OF THE OEM PARTS. *AK
BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING, DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ROTORS, HOWEVER 2 WEEKS LATER BRAKES ARE SQUEAKING AGAIN. *CJ
BADLY WARPED ROTORS MAKING AUTO UNCONTROLLABLE DURING BRAKING DUE TO HEAVY SHUDDER. *AK
THE WARPED ROTORS THAT WERE REPLACED IN MY CAR WERE WARPED AT ABOUT 9,000 MILES. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT THIS IS NOT WARRANTY WORK BECAUSE THIS IS "NORMAL" WEAR AND TEAR. *AK
VEHICLE EXP[ERIENCING PROBLEM WITH FRONT ROTORS WRAPING DUE TO HIGH HEAT WHILE APPLYING BRAKES. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH FAULTY ROTORS. ON TWO OCCASIONS (14,000 MILES & 28,000 MILES), DEALER TURNED ALL ROTORS BECAUSE OF PULSATION RECEIVED FROM BRAKE PEDAL WHEN APPLIED BRAKES. CURRENTLY, AT 32,000 MILES, PROBLEM REOCCURRED, AND DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE ROTORS. *AK
Official recalls
199V239000 · Power Train:clutch Assembly
Aug 27, 1999
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH AN INCORRECT RETAINING RING.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THIS MAY NOT ALLOW THE CLUTCH SYSTEM TO DISENGAGE THE CLUTCH WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, RESULTING IN UNINTENTIONAL VEHICLE MOVEMENT, INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES, ENGINE STALLS, AND DIFFICULTY IN SHIFTING.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER WITH A NEW CYLINDER.
