The car has now had five instances of phantom braking. The first time, I was in the left turning lane. A light rail type train was to the left. I was stopped waiting for the light to turn green. When the light turned green and the car in front of me started moving, I removed my foot from the brake and began to accelerate. I moved forward about 10 feet and the automatic braking system engaged at the car was stopped. There was no object or person in the path of the car. I went to accelerate again and the same thing happened. Both the passenger in the car and I were stumped. We’d never seen this happen before. The third time this happened, I was pulling into a driveway with a slight slope. There was a fence to the left and it was raining. When I was 1/2 way into the driveway, the car screeched to a stop. I’ve pulled into this driveway numerous times and this was the first phantom stop. I tried to accelerate again and it again stopped itself. Most recently (earlier this week) was the most worrisome because I was actually driving a bit faster. There were no cars, objects or people anywhere. I was going perhaps 5 mph and the car slammed to a halt. I thought the common factor was low speed and an object like the light rail or fence to the left like in the previous four instances. But, that was not the case here and it was far scarier.

My husband was driving (I was the passenger). We were driving down the road normally, straight ahead,, not too close to anyone else, when suddenly the brake (or emergency brake, which is what it sounded like to me) engaged out of nowhere, throwing us forward. (My husband's foot was on the accelerator pedal, not the brake pedal.) Unlike the last two times this happened, this time the car did "beep" as if there was a potential collision, except there truly was not. We weren't going fast and had good distance from the car in front of us. Just a normal drive. Like the previous two incidents, the system corrected itself within a second or two and let us continue, but it's terrifying because the car had a mind of its own. Again, fortunately, no one rear-ended us, but it definitely could have happened if the car behind us was closer.

I was driving normally at low-to-moderate speed when the brake -- or emergency brake, I'm not sure -- engaged for a moment all by itself, thrusting me forward unexpectedly. There was no "beeping" to indicate that there was any car, object or person in my way. It was temporary but terrifying. Fortunately, I was not rear-ended. Th…

There was no "beeping" to indicate that there was any car, object or person in my way. It was temporary but terrifying. Fortunately, I was not rear-ended. This is the second time this has happened. I didn't report it at the time, but today, it happened again (I will report it under a separate incident) so this is clearly an ongoing issue.

Adaptive cruise failed just over 2k miles following another vehicle under 60mph and sped up to set cruise of 75 and would have hit the truck if I didn’t stop it, I took video of failure directly after the incident. First bolt EUV camera failed more than once even after it was replaced, that car was bought back under battery recall. My point is, it’s a continued issue. With lane keep assist you must always be prepared for it not to function, it doesn’t always work and have to cycle the on/off button (same with previous EUV too). While in super cruise in my current vehicle it tried to locate the left lane but a big rig was on the line and my car appeared it was going to hit the truck multiple times within a few seconds as each time I had to bring the car back to the center until I turned it off. I have parts on order but I personally don’t believe that will be the end of based upon my two vehicles.

Near my work place, I drove by that intersection a numerous times. One day, when I almost finished making the left turn, it suddenly gave me collision warning and suddenly took brake on the left front wheel by itself for about 1 second. There was nothing in front of me.

We were driving slowly in Los Angeles traffic, trying to pick up a little speed, when the car suddenly seized up -- as it seemed to slam its brakes. We nearly had heart attacks, because there was traffic behind us, and the car behind us could easily have slammed into us. We didn't notice anything on the dash. We don't believe the car was trying to warn us about an imminent forward collision, because there were no "beep beep beeps" as there typically are when it senses a forward threat. Just a sudden breaking, and then it was fine again. Happy to have anyone inspect the car upon request, though I have my doubts they'd find anything. Note that there are already several other complaints about this car that have reported exactly the same problem. It really should be investigated!

However, the driver behind almost rear-ended me when surprised by the sudden braking and sounded his horn. Control Modules scanned at Culver City Chevrolet. No Diagnostic Trouble Codes detected. Problem not confirmed by dealer. An earlier incident of emergency self-braking occurred in May when traversing a speed hump at normal speed where no other vehicles were present. These are the only two instances of self-braking, both unexpected and unnecessary, during the first 5 months/2400 miles of new car ownership. Car is available for inspection upon request.

I was driving on CT Route 2 using super cruise. We came upon a construction zone and the bar on the steering wheel changed from green to red. The car came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway and didn't respond to the accelerator pedal. This is a frightening situation on a super highway. I tried pressing the buttons that turn on and off the cruise control, super cruise, etc. with no effect. Cars behind me passed on the left and right. I finally tried putting the car in Park and back into Drive. From that point on it worked normally. This is the second time this happened. The first time I had only had the car for a week, so I thought it was just a mistake on my part. I did have a dash cam running, but the files are too large. I will keep them on my computer should you wish to have them. The consumer stated that during this incident, they could not take over control from the Super Cruise.
