THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN TWO DIFFERENT PLACES NEAR THE AIRBAGS. I SEE ONLINE THIS IS VERY COMMON AND CHEVROLET DOESN'T SEEM TO BE VERY RECEPTIVE TO FIXING THIS SAFETY CONCERN. I BELIEVE THE CRACKS JUST HAPPENED OVERNIGHT SINCE I NOTICED THEM FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK.

29 reportsTHE WINDOW TRIM ON THE REAR WINDOW HAS A KNOWN DEFECT. THE PLASTIC FRAME OF THE WINDOW CRACKS AND SEPARATES ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER THE CAB. GM IS AWARE OF THE DEFECT BUT IS UNWILLING TO REPLACE WHAT IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW.

I OWN A 2013 CHEVY AVALANCHE. I HAVE REPLACED ALL 4 CHROME DOOR HANDLES DUE TO THEM PULLING AWAY FROM THE DOOR WHERE THEY ATTACH AT THE REAR PORTION.. THIS IS A KNOWN AND WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THE BODY STYLE. TODAY I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THE DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE FOR THE 2ND TIME SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOW REPLACED 3 UNDER WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY FOR THE OTHER TWO. I AM SURE THAT THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN OVER THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE AND I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY EVERY TIME AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT OCCURS.
A VEHICLE RAN A STOP SIGN AND I T-BONED THE OTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH. MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IT SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED.
LEAKING ROOF GLASS WINDOW SEAL. HAD REPAIRED 2 TIMES STILL LEAKING, DEALER SAID IT CAN'T BE FIXED AND THAT THERE IS A CATCH TRIM TO SEND WATER TO BOTTOM OF DOOR. CONCERNED ABOUT RUST AROUND GLASS FRAME AND WATER DAMAGE.

MY 2013 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THE DASH SURROUNDS THE AIRBAG COVER. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO MY PREVIOUS 2008 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE IN THE SAME EXACT AREA (BUT IN TWO PLACES INSTEAD OF JUST ONE). THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH MANY OF THE 2007-2013 GM VEHICLES THAT HAVE A SIMILAR DASHBOARD AS EVIDENT BY THE HUNDREDS OF FORUM POSTS REGARDING THIS DEFECT. A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "GM CRACKED DASH" WILL CONFIRM THIS. THE CRACKED AREA IN THE DASH COULD BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD AND POTENTIALLY LEAD TO INJURY DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF PLASTIC SHARDS BECOMING PROJECTILES DURING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. FAILURE OF THE AIRBAG DURING DEPLOYMENT ALSO SEEMS TO BE A POSSIBILITY IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO BE PUNCTURED BY THE SHARP EDGES OF THE CRACKED PLASTIC. GM HAS NOT ISSUED A VOLUNTARY RECALL AND BASED ON MANY OF THE FORUM POSTS, THE DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT WILLING TO REPLACE THE FAULTY DASHBOARDS AT THEIR EXPENSE, EVEN THOUGH THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT DESIGN CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE BY GM TO NEWER REPLACEMENT PARTS THAT WOULD HELP ALLEVIATE OR ELIMINATE THE CRACKING PROBLEM. SINCE THIS DEFECT IS A COSTLY REPAIR TO THE VEHICLE OWNER AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, SINCE IT IS POTENTIALLY A SAFETY HAZARD THAT COULD RESULT IN SEVERE INJURY, I AM HOPEFUL THAT SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO URGE GM TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARDS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES AT THEIR EXPENSE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN THIS MATTER. *TR

MY AVALANCHE HAS DEVELOPED A ROUGH IDLE AT TIMES EVER SINCE NEW. SOMETIMES IT IS ROUGHER THAN OTHER TIMES AND IS NOT CONSTANT. I HAD IT TO THE DEALER TWO TIMES AND CONTACTED CHEVROLET SUPPORT. DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND SINCE THERE ARE NO TSB'S THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO CORRECT. ONE DEALER SAID THE FUEL TRIM LEVELS ARE VERY LEAN WHICH CAUSES THE ROUGH IDLE. I NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WITH AN IDLE LIKE THIS AND BELIEVE THE FUEL TRIM LEVELS COULD BE ADJUSTED IN THE COMPUTER TO SMOOTH OUT THE IDLE. CHEVROLET SUPPORT JUST DIRECTS ME BACK TO THE DEALER IN A CIRCLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT STALLED OUT YET BUT I DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN WHICH COULD CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION OR MAKING A TURN. THE IDLE FOR A COMPUTER CONTROLLED ENGINE IN A VEHICLE THIS EXPENSIVE SHOULD IDLE ROCK SOLID, THANKS FOR LOOKING INTO THIS FOR ME.
Official recalls
113V001000 · Power Train:automatic Transmission; Steering:column LOCKING:ANTI-THEFT Device
Jan 2, 2013
General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, and Escalade EXT; Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, and Tahoe; and GMC Savana, Sierra HD, Sierra LD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles, manufactured between November 7, 2012, through December 18, 2012, for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect", and FMVSS No. 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention." The vehicles may have been built with a fractured park lock cable or a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: As a result, the vehicle may shift from Park with the ignition key removed or the ignition key in the OFF position. The vehicle may also shift out of Park without application of the brake pedal while the key is off. Either of these scenarios may cause the vehicle to roll away after the driver has exited the vehicle, resulting in a possible vehicle crash and/or injury.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the steering column as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on January 21, 2013. Chevrolet owners may call 1-800-630-2438. Cadillac owners may call 1-866-982-2339. GMC owners may call 1-866-996-9463.
