THEN ISSUES WITH BACK-UP CAMERA SCREEN WOULD NOT POP UP DURING REVERSE SO COULD NOT SEE OR USE CAMERA. TECHNICIANS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEMS BECAUSE THE CONNECTION PORT TO CAR'S COMPUTER FAILED. SEATS RIPPED OUT AND CONNECTION REBUILT. AUTO REAR TAILGATE WITH SAFETY SENSE CLOSE FAILED AS I REACHED INTO GET PACKAGE OUT AS TAILGATE WENT UP. SUPPORTS FAILED CAUSING TAILGATE TO CRASH DOWN ON ME TRAPPING ME WITH LEGS OUT BACK OF CAR. NOT ONLY DID SUPPORTS STRUT FAIL BUT SAFETY CLOSE MECHANISM FAILED. TWO WEEKS AGO WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY APPROX. 65 MPH ENGINE STARTED SHAKING COMPLETELY OUT OF SYNC WITH CYLINDERS BANGING AND DECREASE ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON. WITHOUT WARNING AND NOT HITTING BRAKES SUDDENLY LOST SPEED AND WAS ALMOST RUN OVER BY TRUCK BEHIND US BECAUSE OF ABRUPT DECELERATION. BARELY HAD ENOUGH POWER TO GET OFF AND UP EXIT RAMP. TURNED OUT TO BE COMPUTER FAILURE FOR ENGINE. LAST WEEKEND WHILE BACKING UP WATCHING MOTHER AND CHILD THROUGH BACK-UP CAMERA PASS BEHIND ME , CAMERA FAILED SCREEN WENT BLANK BUT STILL SHOWED PARK ASSIST SYMBOLS. SCREEN WOULD NOT CLEAR BUT SYMBOLS FROZEN ON SCREEN WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. WENT TO HOME DEPOT CAME OUT , CAR WOULD NOT SENSE REMOTE UNABLE TO START. HAD SAME ISSUE 1 YEAR PREVIOUS AND REMOTES REPLACED. PUT REMOTE EVERYWHERE IN CAR STILL COULD NOT START. ASKED CADILLAC TO ENSURE ME CAR WAS SAFE . THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT. ASKED TO GET ANOTHER CAR UNTIL END OF LEASE OR OUT OF LEASE. THEY SAID NO. I AM WORRIED CAR MAY HAVE SAFETY FAILURE. *JS

I BOUGHT MY SRX IN MAY 2011 WITH 2300 MILES ON IT. IN OCTOBER I NOTICED A SQUEAKING COMING FROM THE FRONT END WHEN I MADE TURNS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND SAID I NEEDED NEW STRUT MOUNTS. WHILE WAITING FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN, ON OCT 25 I WAS DRIVING JUST OFF THE HIGHWAY AND LOST ENGINE POWER. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GO 15MPH WHILE MY RPMS WERE RUNNING HIGH. THE DEALER SAID I NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE CONTROL ASSEMBLY. ON OCT 26 THE CAR WENT IN FOR BOTH STRUT MOUNTS AND THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. THEY HAD MY CAR 4 DAYS. ON OCT 29 I GOT THE CAR BACK BUT ON NOV 2, THE STRUT MOUNT NOISE CAME BACK. THE DEALER INFORMED ME TO BRING THE CAR BACK IN. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER TODAY AND I AM WAITING FOR THEM TO CALL TO TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS NOW. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE VEHICLE AND DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AS I DRIVE BETWEEN 4 STATES FOR MY JOB AND NEED A SAFE VEHICLE. CADILLAC/GM HAS BEEN CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES BY MY BOYFRIEND AND MYSELF ABOUT THE ISSUES AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN HELPFUL OR RESPONSIVE AT ALL. I WOULD EXPECT MORE CONSIDERING IT'S SUCH AN EXPENSIVE VEHICLE. *TR

CADILLAC SRX TURBO PURCHASED 7/26/10. NOVEMBER 2010 @ 4000 MILES TURBO FAILED TO OPERATE AND POOR ACCELERATION, DEALER WOULD HAVE TO ORDER RECALL PARTS AND WOULD LET ME KNOW WHEN AVAILABLE. TEMPORARY REPAIR TO HOSE MADE. IN MARCH 2011, (@ 6000 MILES) ATTEMPTED TO START COLD ENGINE AND HEARD NOISE, AND SOME SMOKE WITHOUT MOVING CAR. LUCKILY THE CAR WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS "CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE" OCCURRED. CAR TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE PISTON ROD WAS THROWN AND PUT A HOLE IN THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE. CAR HELD WHILE DEALER INVESTIGATED CAUSE. NEXT DAY ADVISED OF CAUSE AND TOLD THAT CORRECTION IS REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE. IN MARCH, THE SERVICE DEPT. TOLD ME THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT AN ENGINE RECALL ONLY A TURBO HOSE AND POWER STEERING RECALL. DEALER HAS REPLACED ENGINE AND "DONE ALL RECALLS." I AM AFRAID TO PICK UP THE CAR, AND UNSURE OF DEALERS ETHICS. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY LETTER OF ANY KIND ABOUT THE SAFETY RECALLS ON MY NEW CAR. I HAVE NEVER USED REGULAR GAS IN THE VEHICLE. *TR

On November 06, 2020, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE20-019) to assess the remedy and scope of General Motors (GM) recall 14V-571. ODI had received a total of 9 complaints with allegations of rear toe links separating while the vehicle was in motion. There were 4 complainants indicating that the remedy for recall 14V-571 had been performed on their vehicle. The other 5 complaints were outside the original recall scope but exhibited the same failure mode as addressed by recall 14V-571 and reported uncontrolled swaying while driving.ODI's review focused on all 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX vehicles that experienced a rear toe link failure while the vehicle was in motion under various driving conditions. The failures were the same or similar to those addressed by the remedy associated with recall 14V-571. The remedy for recall 14V-571 was to inspect the rear toe link adjusters and replace them if necessary as well as tighten both jam nuts to a manufacturer specified torque. The remedy can be reversed when the vehicle gets a rear alignment adjustment and the jam nuts are not properly re-torqued to the manufacturer's specification. ODI's data review confirmed a high toe link failure rate in vehicles that either had and had not received the remedy associated with recall 14V-571. On June 24, 2021, GM filed a defect information report recalling all 2010-2016 Cadillac SRX and 2011-2012 Saab 9-4X vehicles to remedy the potential failure of the rear toe link adjuster while driving. The remedy replaces adjustable toe links with non-adjustable toe links. The recall (21V-473) includes vehicles that were remedied under 14V-571. In view of the recall action being taken by GM, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation. NHTSA reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. The ODI complaints cited above can be viewed at www.nhtsa.gov.The ODI identification numbers for the complaints cited above can be found in a separate document attached to this closing resume.
