I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO INSTALL SERVICE TIRE AND THEN TOOK IN NEXT DAY FOR REPLACEMENT AT MY COSTS. $225 FOR ONE TIRE AND LOW MILEAGE. WAS TOLD THIS IS COMMON WITH THE CONTINENTAL TIRES. FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE CONSIDERING I WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL PEOPLE, THESE TIRES DO THIS IF THEY HIT A POT HOLE, A CURB OR ANY TYPE OF BUMP. ALSO WAS TOLD I COULD BUY A TIRE WARRANTY. SORRY BUT I'M OVER 50 AND NEVER HEARD THAT I COULD BUY TIRE INSURANCE BECAUSE THE PRODUCT HAS A REPUTATION FOR WHAT HAPPENED. I FEEL RIPPED OFF AND NOT TOLD ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WHEN I GOT THE BUICK VERANO. I DON'T HAVE $225 EVERYTIME I HIT A POT HOLE WHICH I DIDN'T EVEN HIT! *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 70 MPH MY KNEE BUMPED THE KEY/IGNITION AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. I BELIEVE THE KEY ACTUALLY TURNED IN THE IGNITION. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE RESULT OF THE COMBINATION OF THE LOCATION OF THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE DESIGN OF THE KEY FOB AND THE KEY CHAIN AND TAG THAT THE RENTAL CAR COMPANY USES. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN MODERATELY HEAVY TRAFFIC. I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED SO MY FOOT WAS NOT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. I HAD THE SOLE OF MY SHOE FLAT ON THE FLOOR AND MY KNEE BENT. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS INTO A LONG TRIP AND IDLY SHIFTED MY POSITION. SOMEHOW THE KEY CHAIN, FOB, 2ND KEY AND TAG HAD ALIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT MY KNEE WAS ABLE TO BUMP THEM AND APPLY ROTATIONAL LEVERAGE IN SUCH A WAY AS TO TURN THE KEY FROM ON TO OFF. FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE ON A RELATIVELY FLAT/STRAIGHT SECTION OF INTERSTATE AND THERE WAS A WIDE PAVED SHOULDER. I PUT ON MY FLASHERS, MOVED ONTO THE SHOULDER AND WAS ABLE TO STEER AND BRAKE WELL ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR SAFELY. I WAS THEN ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND CONTINUE. I HAVE PICTURES AVAILABLE OF THE KEY FOB/CHAIN ARRANGEMENT. *TR

THIS IS SECOND INCIDENT OF SAME FAILURE; OF CAR STOPPING RUNNING WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. ( ODI#10606705) THE LOCATION AND EASE OF TURNING THE CAR OFF WHILE IN MOTION IS VERY UNSAFE. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 73 MPH WHEN I REACHED UP TO REDIRECT THE LEFT CENTER AIR VENT AWAY FROM ME. IN TURNING THE WHEEL FOR CONTROL OF AIR SPEED UNDOUBTEDLY MY KNUCKLE GRAZED THE ON/OFF STARTER BUTTON AND THE CAR ODOMETER TOOK AN IMMEDIATE DROP TO ZERO. AS I STATED BEFORE YOU CANNOT PUT THE CAR IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND RESTART THE CAR AT INTERSTATE SPEED. I REENACTED THIS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AT SLOW SPEED AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS. THE ON/OFF BUTTON SHOULD NOT BE IN A GROUP WITH ALL THE OTHER BUTTONS, IT SHOULD BE PLACED OFF TO THE SIDE AND SEPARATED FROM THEM BY A SECTION OF DASHBOARD MATERIAL. THIS IS A VERY SHOCKING EXPERIENCE AND ONE THAT IS TOTALLY UNEXPECTED! I CAN SEE WHAT COULD OCCUR IF A PERSON WERE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE WAY OF SEMI'S ETC. PLEASE LET BUICK KNOW ABOUT THIS DEFECT !!!!! *TR

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, I INADVERTENTLY LIGHTLY BRUSHED ACROSS THE ENGINE START STOP BUTTON WHILE REACHING TO TOUCH SOMETHING ON THE NAVIGATION SCREEN. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT RUSH HOUR AND I HAD TWO OF MY GRANDKIDS WITH ME, FROM THE LANE TO THE RIGHT OF FAST LANE I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE CAR OFF AN EXIT AND COAST UP TO THE TOP OF THE RAMP, PULLED OVER NOT KNOWING IF I WOULD NEED A TOW OF MY BRAND NEW CAR OR WHAT. THERE WERE 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND I HAD NO CONTROL OF CARS COMING AT ME FROM THE REAR. THE STEERING AND BRAKES DID NOT LOCK UP. YOU CANNOT VERY WELL PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND STEP ON THE BRAKE AT THAT SPEED TO RESTART THE CAR, AS I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE. THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OD SAFETY COVER OVER THE BUTTON OR MORE PRESSURE SHOULD BE NEEDED TO START OR STOP. I REENACTED THE INCIDENT IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD PARKING LOT AND IT IS VERY EASY TO STOP THE CAR IN MOTION, YOU STILL CANNOT START IT WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. I NOTIFIED MY DEALER AND THEY SAID I SHOULD NOTIFY YOU. *TR

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Buick Encore all-wheel-drive vehicles manufactured August 23, 2012, to September 9, 2013; Verano vehicles manufactured August 8, 2012, to June 20, 2013; Chevrolet Cruze vehicles manufactured August 7, 2012, to August 16, 2013, and 2012-2014 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles manufactured May 10, 2011, to August 16, 2012 equipped with a Calix oil pan/block heater. In cold temperatures, the insulation on the engine block heater cord can become damaged, allowing the wires to be exposed.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Exposed wires increase the risk of electrical shock and personal injury if the cord is handled while it is plugged in.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine oil pan/block heater cord with a new cord that is rated for temperatures of minus 40 degree Celsius. The recall began in August 2014. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14257.
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Buick Regal, LaCrosse, Verano, and Enclave, and Chevrolet Impala, Malibu, Cruze, and Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable adjuster may disengage from the transmission shift lever. As such, these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." They also fail to conform to FMVSS number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If a vehicle's shift cable disengages from the transmission shift lever, a driver may be unable to shift gear positions and the indicated shift position may not represent the gear position the vehicle is in. Should a disengagement occur while the vehicle is being driven, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, the driver may be able to shift the lever to the "PARK" position, but the vehicle transmission may not be in the "PARK" gear position. If the vehicle is not in the "PARK" position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
Remedy: General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace any affected transmission shift cable adjusters, free of charge. The recall began on April 10, 2014. Chevrolet owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-222-1020, Buick owners at 1-800-521-7300, and GMC owners at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors' number associated with this recall is 14048.
