SUMMARY: INTEGRATED BRAKE: The Integrated Brake (IB) system may not have been produced by the supplier according to specifications. If the IB system was not functioning properly, a warning lamp and message will be displayed in the instrument cluster. In August, this recall was expanded to include additional potentially affected vehicles. SAFETY RISK: In some cases, there will be a reduction in power assist braking, which could lead to an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. The Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system may not function, which could also affect braking performance as well as vehicle handling and control. However, fully mechanical braking is not affected and, if the IB system is not functioning properly, the parking (emergency) brake will be automatically activated to aid in braking performance and help maintain vehicle stability and control. REMEDY: The Integrated Brake (IB) system will be replaced for free by an authorized BMW center which should take about two to three hours. RECALL STATUS: Recall INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available This recall was issued on February 12, 2024, more than a year ago and the manufacturer has informed that the parts to fix this issue is on backorder. This is a safety issue.

Car presents the forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning are inoperable. Errors popped up 10-20 times while driving a short distance. These are repeat errors that BMW has not fixed. As i drove the car kept alerting me that the systems were offline. They would come back online and go back offline as i drove. Car has been to dealership around 8-9 times and BMW says there is adamant that nothing is wrong with the car even though this error has been happening since I have had the car at around 1000 miles. Currently at ~13k miles now.

The vehicle brakes have stopped working on this vehicle three times. The Integrated brake system has been worked on several times with loss of brake power happening while I have infants int he car with me several times. The BMW dealership, BMW Fort Washington in Pennsylvania, ahs failed to repair it several times despite requests. I lost braking power today and almost hit two different vehicles which I barely avoided by taking dangerous evasive action. Numerous warning lights came on inside the vehicle: 1) "Drive carefully. Brake System" 2) "Parking Brake" 3) "Reduced Driver Assistance" 4) "Recall or Technical Campaign" This is the third time this has happened. I was in less than two weeks ago and the B<W dealership assured me the vehicle was safe to drive despite the warning lights being on and the recall light being active. They told me nothing to worry about and this happened this morning. This is unacceptable.

This is a serious issue and I do not think this was good business. It's also terrifying to think the brakes on such a heavy and fast vehicle can lock up. This is unacceptable. The cars should be taken back by dealers immediately and owners offered new vehicles which are not part of the recall that are safe.

Collision warning failed. Automatic emergency braking failed. Unknown if brakes were delayed or had issue stopping. I rear ended the car the in front of me, going from a stop while attempting to make a right hand turn. There were no system warnings or emergency braking applied although the car is equipped with those and many more safety features. During the accident the air bags were not deployed. So the impact was not severe but caused a combined $10,000 plus in cosmetic damage to both vehicles.

I purchased a 2024 BMW X7 xDrive40i VIN: xxxxx on May 1, 2023. I am pleased with the vehicle except for a serious flaw that in addition to compromising convenience creates a potential safety hazard. The problem resides in the Driving Assistant Professional Package which deviates from the somewhat industry standard practice of allowing the driver to select a mode where the vehicle reads speed signs and/or refers to a location speed limit map. If the option is chosen, software can select the posted speed with a driver programmed offset. As an example, if the vehicle enters a 55 mph zone from a different posted speed with a driver programmed offset of -5 mph, the vehicle will automatically begin traveling at 50 mph. During my vehicle selection process, I drove an early 2023 X7 at a dealer that operated as described above. The 2024 X7 I purchased does not follow the above functionality and if the speed limit changes the driver must push a Set Switch to enable the new posted speed. As an example, if the speed limit changes from 55 mph with a driver programmed +5 mph offset, to 40 mph the vehicle will continue to travel at 60 mph in the 40 mph zone until the driver pushes the "Set" button. If the driver missed the 40 mph sign, a safety hazard could ensue as well as a speeding ticket. Virtually all other manufacturers that offer a similar option allow a mode where a new posted speed limit is adopted automatically without the need to push a switch thereby eliminating the above hazard. I would appreciate an assessment and critique of my above concerns along with any corrective action(s) deemed appropriate. Thank you for your consideration of this matter and please let me know your conclusions. I have contacted BMW several times and no explanations or the opportunity to discuss the concern has been allowed. I can provide the many emails I have sent to BMW if desired.
