The recall number for the incident is 24V-104. The car was recalled in February and the recall repair was completed May 2, 2024. The car is currently at BMW and is available for inspection.BMW has confirmed that the parts they replaced in May malfunctioned. They claim that some of the recall parts had a mechanical problem and that the recent repair, July, was done with parts that had been inspected. On July 22, 2024, I was backing up and when I braked the car jolted as if I hit something and the computer screen showed ABS and parking brake malfunction. When I engaged the brakes they were hesitant and took a long time to stop the car. Fortunately, I was in a parking lot with no cars around so there was ample space for the car to come to a stop. Had I been on the highway or main road, I would have been in an accident as I would not have had enough distance to stop.

The contact was informed that the power brake assist needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond, swerved, and came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into gear while attempting to drive. A Police officer blocked the vehicle until the vehicle was towed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V104000 (Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Service Brakes); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact had not yet received the recall notification. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was temporarily repaired and test-driven and that the vehicle was safe to drive. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle. Additionally, malfunctioning ABS and/or DSC systems can cause a loss of vehicle control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: The Integrated brake system will be inspected and, if necessary, replaced, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 21, 2026. BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2023 X1 xDrive28i, X1 M35i vehicles. On the second-row outboard seats, the seat belts may have been pinched by an interior trim panel during vehicle assembly.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A pinched seat belt may not function properly, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and adjust the interior trim panel, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 9, 2023. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Consequence: A driver's air bag that does not deploy as intended during a crash increases the risk of injury.
