Just over a year of ownership and the headlights are fogging over with condensation on the inside of the headlight housing. Googling this problem produces hundreds of thousands of results, including forum posts and facebook/instagram reels showcasing this issue across the BMW G42 platform. Apparently, typical driving causing the back-bottom side of the headlight housing to form micro-cracks large enough to allow moisture in. This moisture appears to haze up or fog up the headlights with condensation on the front of the lenses, obstructing light output and potentially ruining the headlights in the long-term. This design flaw is a cause for safety concerns should the headlight be completely obstructed or fail at night while the car is in operation. It reduces visibility of the car for others on the road, and reduces the ability for the driver to see. A 2025 car should not be having these issues and needs to be covered under an extended warranty if they can't manufacture a replacement that solves this issue.
