EXPLODING SUNROOF. SUNROOF WAS IN THE FULL OPEN POSITION WHEN IT JUST SUDDENLY EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN GOING OFF IN THE CAR. GLASS SHARDS WENT FLYING DOWN ON ME. ONE SHARD WENT INTO MY HAND. I WAS ON AN ENTRANCE RAMP TO THE INTERSTATE ON A SUNNY DAY WHEN IT HAPPENED. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 55MPH.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AS A CPO VEHICLE WITH 4 BRAND NEW EAGLE F1 ASYMMETRIC 2 TIRES. WITHIN MONTHS ALL 4 TIRES DEVELOPED BUBBLES THAT TORE OPEN VIA AN INITIAL BUBBLE OR THEY TORE OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. ALL 4 WERE REPLACED AND LESS THAN 8 MONTHS LATER ANOTHER ONE DEVELOPED A TEAR SO LONG THAT I COULD NOT EVEN DRIVE IT AS A RUN FLAT. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED. THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AS WELL AS TOTALLY UNSAFE AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK. ALL 5 WENT FLAT AND MY CAR NOTIFIED ME OF IT. An improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump may be exposed to water and short circuit.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the water pump and plug connector as necessary, and install a protective shield, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 28, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants.
